Pro-chiro, but I vaccinate my child on a "regular" schedule.
For the record, I've never utilized the services of a chiro for my baby, but if he had a medical condition that could be helped through a chiro, I would definitely consider it. I go to a chiro myself regularly and have been for almost a year now.
So, to you above posters who claim to be "pro chiro" but say there has never been a condition...has your kid never had an ear infection?
No. My child has never been truly "sick". He's had a runny nose when teething and had a minor cold this winter, but he's never ran a fever or had anything wrong that we needed to bring him to the pedi about. Same goes for my infant.
ETA: If my child did get an ear infection, I'd most likely put him on antibiotics the first time it happened. If he had chronic ear infections, I would speak with my chiro.
People really take their babies to a chiropractor for ear infections?
Yep. Because they aren't horribly painful and require antibiotics. Instead, all you need is a little adjustment to get the ear flowing better. ::biggest eyeroll evah::

Meh, I wouldn't knock it. I've never tried it personally, but I believe it probably works some of the time for some people. Nothing is 100% of course.
My coworker's DH almost died of MRSA, which was probably caused by his chronic use of antibiotics. I'd rather try that than be pumping my kid full of drugs all the time IMO.

I have some knowledge. Like I said, Grace has had a lot of ear infections and after one last fall we treated with antibiotics and then made an appt with a chiro. This is what we were told: it takes 6-8 treatments for one ear infection after the infection becomes present & bi monthly adjustments for preventitive care. We paid out of pocket for 6 months (October thru mid-Feb) and during the time, still had to treat with antibiotics and she had 3 infections. We were told her body was unresponsive to the chiro treatments and that her ear infections came from teething and a cold & if we wanted to prevent the ear infections, we only had to prevent the cold. I have never gone back. In addition, she would wake up screaming on the night of the adjustments and whether related to the adjustment or not (we were told it wasn't) I wasn't impressed. So, yep I have tried it and I will stick with getting my kiddo out of pain and quickly.

I wouldnt for just an ear infection once or twice a year, but if my child constantly had ear infections I would explore it.
I think taking antibiotics too frequently can cause serious harm.
The new line of thinking is that antibiotics aren't that helpful with ear infections. We only treat underlying viruses with antibiotics but not a stand-alone ear infection.

My grandmother had cancer and died even though she had chemotherapy. Should I believe that chemo is a quack because it didnt work for her? I'm sorry that a chiro treatment didnt work for your DD, but it doesn't mean there aren't chiros out there that can rid children of ear infections.

So, your kid didn't respond, but that doesn't mean the entire practice is worthy of the biggest eye roll ever. But, if you have an understanding of anatomy, the nervous system, and how this is supposed to work, it makes perfect sense.

Yes, I do eyeroll anyone who is willing to keep their child in pain at the chance that chiropractic adjustment might work (within, what is it 3 weeks?) instead of taking them to the ped. Antibiotics are quick and effective but not preventitive so I think if you want to send your kid after you treat them, go right ahead but to make them suffer just isn't my style. And please, everytime someone doesn't agree with you, they must be unread on the human anatomy? Really?

I am not against chiro, obviously, I have even given it a go for myself. I also (personally) just started seeing an accupuncturist. But I am not fooled into believing that chiros can replace peds for ear infections. Like I said above, I believe in it for preventitive care but not for treating an active infection. I think it is better to get your child out of pain and into recovery, then prevent it from happening again.
I do take my kids to the chiro, we also vaccinate our children. Our Chiro did not vaccinate his children, and advocates that people don't, we agree to disagree on that subject.
i have never discussed vaccinations with my chiropractor. i dont know why anyone would? its something that i discuss with my pedi, and my kids have been vaccinated per the recommended schedule.
my chiro has never asked about their vax.
my kids have never been sick but there is no relation, i am just very lucky. well, once they had a stomach bug for the night (i guess that is sick).

the majority of chriropractors are anti vaccine. I was wondering if they pushed that agenda on their patients.

I do see where you're coming from, and FWIW if in your situation, I would probably give my child antibiotics first, then try to use chiro services as more of a preventative measure while still treating with antibiotics.
However, maybe not over the course of just a year, but if you're giving your child antibiotics consistently you can cause them some permanent harm. Pain can be treated with pain medication. Antibiotics is not always necessary in the case of an ear infection. On the contrary, many are limiting using antibiotics as a treatment because long term, it can cause more harm than good. Some would rather their child be in temporary pain than develop a resistance to antibiotics or worse.

Mine hasn't and he has treated me during pregnancy and beyond. My chiro does not give me his opinion on medical issues-rather he treats me for what I am going there for and that's it. The most he's said regarding my children is that they're beautiful.

a good one does not.
and I am not even sure that its true most of them are anti-vaccine, out of curiosity i am going to ask my two friends and my chiropractor. i will be shocked if they are.

This. I actually asked my chiro this when I saw him a few weeks back becuase I heard someone else say that. He said if a chiro is against vaccines you probably should find a new one.

Wow. I am seriously surprised how many kids haven't had ear infections. Grace has had probably a dozen. Lucky parents you are
Is she in daycare? My kids are not, so they're less likely to be sick.
My kid IS in daycare, and has never been sick other than a cold here or there. No fevers, no ear infections, no vomiting or diarrhea. We've never been to the pedi for anything other than regular check-ups. Daycare is NOT a guaranty that a kid will get sick more.

Sure it isn't a guarantee but it does increase the chance. They are exposed to more germs, sick kids, cold, flu, etc. Of course, kids in dc on average, get sick more. It isn't anything against dc. I love Gracie's dc and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't think they were knocking your care, simply stating the obvious.
