Question for non-FTMs (breach baby)

I had an appt on Friday and the MW confirmed that LOs head is indeed in my ribs. I'm 32w, and LO has been eight there for as long as I remember. Anybody else had their baby turn after 32w? I'm pretty small (5'6 size 4 pre-pregnancy), and starting to wonder if I'll wind up having baby take the alternate exit (c-sec). any thought fromthose who have been there? I won't be horribly disappointed, but obviously natural sounds better than major surgery.

Re: Question for non-FTMs (breach baby)

  • I haven't but my sister in law went in for her 40 week apt on a friday and the baby was breach. On monday morning she went in for her Csection and the baby had flipped, so they just waited and let her go into labor on her own time. I can happen.

  • Back in the day I was head down before I turned breach at around 37 weeks. There is still plenty of time!

  • Mine was breech at 32 wks and stayed breech, though my doctor actually thought she had flipped back to head down at my 34 wk apt. Not so as my water broke the next day and they confirmed she was still breech. :(
After 2 miscarriages and a pre-term birth (34 weeks gestation due to PROM), our healthy baby girl is growing up fast! Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers
3 more miscarriages and finally a correct diagnosis (septate uterus) and a corrective uterine surgery later, our second blessing is here! Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • My DD was breach pretty close to her due date and then flipped.  We had started talking about whether I wanted an external version or to just go with a c-section. Luckily she flipped and we never had to discuss if further.

  • My older brother was breech and my mom's OB and MW (yes she had both) weren't even concerned about it until 37 weeks. He still hadn't turned so they had her do an inversion table or tilt table or whatever it's called. It took a full week but he turned and she had a successful home birth.

  • I'm small at 5'3 and DS was breech from roughly 27 weeks and on, he never flipped and I needed a c-section. But from what I gather most babies do flip again

Yes. DS1 was breech until around 34 weeks.

He was mostly transverse the whole time and then at my 34 week u/s, the had turned. There is still time! If not, a c-section isn't that bad ;) I'm having my 3rd  :)

  • We Are in the same boat. Dr is gonna check in 2 weeks and just Keep monitoring LO. I think he said there is an 80% chance he will turn. GL.

I was told at my 34 week appt. with my first pregnancy that DS was transverse.  He was head down by the next appt.

  • Mine flipped at 38 weeks - and she was a 9-pounder!  Anything is possible!
