1st Trimester

Zumba

Well last night I re-started my zumba classes and I thought I was going to be really sore. It wasn't so bad when I woke up this morning., I took it easy and didn't over exert myself so I feel that the baby is ok also. Big Smile So hoping to continue my classes, only two days a week which isnt bad at all.

Re: Zumba

  • I love Zumba, but I'm way too scared to take my classes during my first trimester. I know it's probably a silly fear but I can't seem to allow myself to go :(

  • I just went to a Zumba class for the first time last night! I am a runner and needed a change of pace for the day....it was a lot of fun! My arms are sore today. :)

At Makinroom4 - don't be scared! It was a lot of fun. :) Working out if good for you and the baby, even in the first trimester. It's really helped me keep my energy up. I've stayed consistent at 4-5 days a week ever since I found out I was pregnant!

  • And with Zumba you can do your own pace. The instructor was jumping high and kicking all the time while I bounced and did smaller kicks. I didn't mind because it was still fun. Just let your instructor know you will be keying it down more because your expecting.

  • I have missed 4 classes in a row due to scheduling conflicts, but I am still planning on keeping up my 2x/week.  There's a girl who's 27 weeks pregnant and still does it, so it's okay for me!  I've just modified so I'm not doing the jumps.

I take Zumba too and one of the instructors literally taught classes her entire pregnancy (well - about 35 weeks)

As long as your normally work out, you're fine your first trimester to continue (and should stay active!)
Lucky for us we have the summer to be outside! My last pregnancy was mainly in the winter so I just sat on my butt :)
