I use Similac advance. I was breastfeeding in the begining when LO was first born then she got jaundice and we had to start supplementing with formula. Then I just switched to pumping and formula and now she is strictly formula, not by choice though. I had a ton of complications from labor and hemorrhaged after delivery and my milk never came in even with me pumping
I bf, pump and give formula once a day. I wanted to make sure that he would take formula because I will possibly have to stop bfing in order to start a medication.
I pump because I want to have a stash for when I go back to work. He gets usually 3 oz bottle a day. It fills him up at night since he will nurse forever and still not seem full.
We use baby's only organic dairy formula.

I BF and then supplement with 2oz of BM right after a feeding. As soon as DS is done with the bottle I pump, but usually only get 1/2 an oz or so. I thankfully had a stash from when my milk came in, but I'm running out and can't keep up with the supplements with what I am pumping. That being said, I will soon be supplementing the 2oz at every feeding with Gerber Good Start unless and until my supply increases. DS's ped suggested Good Start because it's closeset to BM and an easy transition for BF babies. I have to supplement because DS kept losing weight and at one point lost over 15% of his birth weight. We are still trying to get him up to his birth weight at almost a month old so we need to be positive he's taking in enough.
I started off breastfeeding in the hospital but after an episiotomy and third-degree tear, I hemorrhaged pretty badly and became anemic overnight, so my milk didn't come in for a week and when it did it was barely enough to get a tablespoon of colostrum. I pumped that everyday for about a week until I just fully dried up. Then I cried for about a week mourning the fact that breastfeeding wouldn't work for us.
We feed her Enfamil Gentlease. We swiched to that after she got refluxy. We had originally started off with Enfamil Newborn.
HTH! Good luck!
ETA: Sabina is a little over 1 month old and takes anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 oz every 2.5 to 3 to 4 hours.
We straight formula feed. We use Good Start Gentle. DS#1 did great with it and ds#2 is doing great on it too.DS#2 eats every 2.5-3 hours, taking 2-3 ozs at a time.
1. What formula do you use? Enfamil Nutramigen (lactose free due to sensitivity)
2. If you supplement, how many bottles and how often? 2-3 oz with every feeding
3. If you breastfed, why did you switch to formula? I started supplementing in the hospital on day 2 or 3. I still breastfeed, but she gets between 12 and 18 oz of formula each day as well. Based on her growth at her 1 month appointment, this is working perfectly for us.
4. If you're supplementing do you otherwise pump or breastfeed? See #3.
We have started to supplement with Similac Sensitive Tummy formula (she had some gas issues with the regular Advanced).
We give 1-2 bottles per day depending on her demand / level of fussiness with feeding and then wanting more than I can give her in one sitting. Usually this happens later in the day (late afternoon to just before bedtime). I have plenty to give her overnight for her 2 middle of the night feedings and first thing in the AM feeding.
I breastfeed & pump as much as possible but sometimes we just need the extra help of a bottle of formula.
1. Enfamil premium NB 2. 2 or 3 bottles as needed but one definitely at night 4. I did pump but had to return my rental and am waiting for WIC to give me one but I mainly BF.
2. If you supplement, how many bottles and how often? DD's lost a lot more than 10% of their birthweight because my milk took a long time to come in, so our pedi told us to start supplementing when they were four days old. We gave bottles (they took anywhere from 1/2 to 2 oz after every breastfeeding session). I pump 3-4 times per day, and we use BM when it is available. We had an appointment last week and they had gained 20 oz and 18 oz in 9 days, so we were ok'd to try weaning off of supplements. They're now getting bottles at about half of their feedings (mostly at night and usually one during the day).
3. If you breastfed, why did you switch to formula? My milk didn't come in and my supply was low for two babies.
4. If you're supplementing do you otherwise pump or breastfeed? I breastfeed them before offering supplements, and I pump 3-4 times per day.
1. Enfamil Premium Newborn. When I was in the hospital, I was barely producing so the LC gave me this to feed the baby because he was not getting enough to eat.
2. My baby will not latch and I had lots of help from LC's. He was strictly BM from day 2 when my milk came in until 3 weeks when he started eating more then I could produce. I pump and give him bm all day and usually run out by night. He gets 2 3oz feedings of formula each night. When I had to start supplementing, I stayed with the Enfamil since that worked while we were in the hospital.
4. I am renting a hospital grade pump and I pump after every feeding from 5 am until 11pm. I could not keep up with pumping after the overnight feedings because by the time I would feed him, get him to sleep, and pump, I was lucky if I had 1/2 hour of sleep before it was time to feed again. After not sleeping for 2 days, I had to start supplementing. I cried for a few days because I felt like I was failing him. I am okay now because he is gaining weight and is healthy. He takes the formula fine. I am lucky that my insurance is covering the pump for 10 months since the hospital gave me a prescription.
2. If you supplement, how many bottles and how often? - strictly FF. He eats 3 oz every 2.5-3 hours.
3. If you breastfed, why did you switch to formula? We started breastfeeding in the hospital, but LO was not getting anything. The hospital started him on the gentleease in the hospital. Day 6 my milk came in, I was able to give him a total of 3 bottles of 2 oz. He had jaundice so I had to strictly bottle feed. I pumped, but each time I was getting less and less and eventually there wasn't enough to fill the bottom of the bottle. It was heart breaking, but I am happy that at least he got 3 bottles of BM.
1. What formula do you use? Similac Advanced, but we tried the Sensitive kind too
2. If you supplement, how many bottles and how often? DS gets a bottle at every feeding after breastfeeding (8-10 times) with 2-3 oz bc we know he's getting about 1 oz of BM
3. If you breastfed, why did you switch to formula? I don't produce enough BM naturally (despite doing everything suggested by the LC to increase supply)--PCOS strikes again...
4. If you're supplementing do you otherwise pump or breastfeed? If he sleeps longer than 3 hrs, sceams instead of latching on to BF, or if I skip a BF session for any reason, I pump. I also pump after he eats at night and in the morning as suggested by the LC.
still expecting a miracle on the supply issue...
Edit: The LC keeps telling me that only 3% of women don't produce enough, but by reading all your responses, it seems like a whole lot more than that!!
2. If you supplement, how many bottles and how often?
Some days none. Some days 1-2 bottles (2-3oz in each). Typically one around 5:30pm and sometimes one around 11pm right before bed. Depends on how he is that day.
3. If you breastfed, why did you switch to formula?
I started doing a bottle in the evenings around 5:30 because DH does not get home until 7pm and with DD I could not sit on the couch and nurse all evening. She was not happy and neither was I. Connor would nurse non-stop from 5-midnight if I let him.
4. If you're supplementing do you otherwise pump or breastfeed?
I BF most of the time. He gets anywhere from 0-6oz of formula each day depending on how he is acting. I pump twice a day (once after the 5:30 ish bottle) and then another random time, but do not use that in the bottle since I am trying to build up a small stash for my first few days back to work or if we need to go out for an evening.

We supplement with formula, about half formula, half BM right now.
1. We use Similac Sensitive for gas and fussiness
2. DS eats a ton, I dont even know how many bottles of formula a day... maybe 5-6. I also give him bottles of pumped BM.
3. We started supplementing in the hospital because it hurt so much to BF. My nipples were bleeding and I would cry it hurt so much.
4. I pump and BF (BF a few times a day), but I dont get enough pumped, so I still supplement. I'm still hoping to get to mostly BM (pumped and direct), but I'm going back to work soon, so that might not work.
We just switched to Similac Senstive for Gas from the regular, because she is twisted up w/ gas pain. And no amount of my mother and the pedi telling me it's normal for newborns makes me feel better about it.
I haven't seen a huge difference, but we're only a few days in and I don't think all the proteins from the old formula are out of her system yet.
