  • I'm terrified at the fact that I might have to have a c-section.  Apparently this scares me more than pushing a baby out.

  • I hate taking showers. Not that I don't like being clean, or that I don't take them at all, but it just takes up a ton of my energy every morning. I think part of the problem is having to blow-dry my hair, which takes forever. But really. If I can avoid it in the morning, I relish in the extra time spent sleeping or eating breakfast instead.

I've even told my husband that some mornings, especially during this pregnancy, I deserve a medal just for showering.

I definitely agree Kerri. I already had a long labor with my first and the thought of a c-section terrifies me so much more than having to go through 20 hours of labor and 3 1/2 hours of pushing all over again.  I am even more terrified of ending up with a c-section since I have to be induced for medical reasons.

I may end up with one because of partial previa, I'm hoping my placenta moves.

Wow . . . I totally feel the SAME way, I am so glad there is someone else out there too!!!  I literally take a shower, go sleep on the couch for a half hour and then get up and do my hair/finish getting ready.  I have to wait like 20-30 minutes before I can even think about starting to dry my hair because of how thick it is, that's why I go back to bed!

Why don't you guys just take showers at night before bed? That's what I ALWAYS do - even when I was working! SO much easier! I could never shower in the AM!

Yep.  Epidurals and possible catheters scare me more than actually giving birth, that's partly why I want to try to do this naturally...

Some people really don't like to be the center of attention and have family or friends that just don't believe them and insist on throwing them a shower anyway.  I'm on baby number 2 and did not think in any way that I should have a shower for this baby.  A friend of mine insisted, said that she was going to do something for me, whether I wanted it or not.  At some point what is more important- messing up a friendship because your friend wants to do something nice, or to insist on not having anything and then hurting your friend or family member's feelings?

That is one example I can provide for you of people who have showers planned but do not want to be the center of attention.  You have to pick your battles and realize that for 95% of people, they have good intentions.

I do sometimes . . . depends on what I have going the night before and what time I get home.  I also have short hair (not pixie, like chin lenght), so sometimes it's hard for me to shower at night because by the next morning my hair is all kinds of crazy and I can't just put it up :(.  Also sometimes at night I just feel too darn lazy to have to stand and dry my hair for 20 minutes!  I think it pretty much all comes down to laziness . . . at least for me :)

I haven't ever posted about it, but I can say this is true for me. I didn't have a bridal shower, and honestly wouldn't have had a baby shower if it were left up to me/immediate family to have one. The girls I work with planned a surprise shower for me. To me, it was more important to be gracious in accepting it, than making a big stink about prefering not to have one. It will be small, and I'm sure very fun/special. But I honestly do hate to be the center of attention! I agree that everyone likes to have attention--but not all of us enjoy that attention in the same form!

  • I've got a few today (it's been a rough morning already)

I whipped the coffee pot across the kitchen and started crying because it overflowed.  Apparently I didn't have the lid on correctly.

I forgot to set up a payment plan with my dentist (I had to have a bunch of work done because apparently I had periodontitis, ew) and they charged my bank acct. 880.00 yesterday (I just switched insurance and I didn't satisfy the waiting period so I got charged the whole thing).  I am going to call and yell and probably end up crying and blaming my PG to get out of paying the whole amt up front.

I am realizing that the intern I am supervising is an idiot and I have no idea how she is going to graduate from grad school.  I am an a$$ because I am concerned about how she reflects on me as a supervisor.

  • I'm going to a job interview today and told everyone at my current office I have a doctors appointment to go to. Because I never go to lunch till late so when I leave early everyone will be asking why I'm going so early.

I won't even consider/research doing the co-sleep in my bed for the simple fact that my two fur babies were my babies first and they sleep in bed with me at night. I don't want to have to lose nights of sleep re-training them to stay off the bed that they have been allowed to sleep on their whole lives. Their lives are going to change enough as it is, without them losing their bed to sleep on.

  • I know that there were people who lost lives and homes during the stroms here last week. I still whined about not having power for a week. Especially after it came on tuesday went off for two days for ten houses on my street.

I'm sick of people trying to make me feel like a failure because I had a c-section. I tried hard to avoid it. You weren't there. Not pointed at anyone on TB.

DH have been married for almost nine years. That means he and his ex have been divorced for at least ten. People who keep making references to her and her ( not DH) children are driving us crazy. Someone actually suggested we name DD after her mother and sister. Angry DH has said something but people can't take a hint.

Me too! I know c-sections are completely safe and the happiest kind of surgery you can have, but the biggest surgery I've ever had was having my wisdom teeth pulled. I don't want to go under the knife. But of course, if I have to I will. I'm just a big baby about it. Pushing the baby out doesn't scare me half as much!

Showers at night wouldn't be bad, but then I'd have to blow-dry my hair and then sleep on it, which would make it all funky and impossible to deal with in the morning. And I'm willing to admit, laziness does play a role here. Thus my deep Friday confession. :)

Wisdom teeth was the biggest thing I had done before the c/s too. DH was more worried about it than me. Like I said I tried to avoid the c/s. My biggest fear was a severe tear.

I also can't stand when people would rather stay indoors when the weather is finally nice outside - step out of your home cave and enjoy the fresh air!

I've never been a fan of American Idol, because I've never seen the comedy in watching someone's dreams being crushed or them making a fool out of themselves. That said, I just have to say that I'm really enjoying The Voice. It's a different format with blind auditions and it seems like the singers are far and away more talented than AI.

My bride today thinks that DH has assisted me at wedding before, but he hasn't and I had to give him a quick photography lesson last night. I refuse to feel badly though, because she wouldn't pay me for a 2nd shooter and I mentioned that I *might* have one. She then started to question with every email if I would be bringing one and I finally said DH, because I won't be paying him.

  • I'm sick of posts from people who've gained almost no weight. I haven't gained as much as some, but lately it feels like I wake up every morning a pound heaver, and I'm already at the recommended max for my pre-pregnancy weight. I understand being concerned that the baby isn't growing properly, but I find it hard to believe that all the separate posts on the same topic are from people who are equally concerned only about the baby and aren't secretly thrilled they haven't gained much.

Typing it out makes me feel bad for feeling this way, but oh well.

I'm not dreading my shower but I'm not looking forward to it. Of course, I am grateful that I have family who is excited to celebrate the birth of my LO but I'm shy around crowds. For my bridal shower, we did a combination shower (my side & DH's) and DH came... along with my closest friends. It wasn't nearly as awkward for me.

The shower that I am (supposedly) having is just for DH's side of the family. I won't have any friends there and DH won't be there. I'm also not looking forward to all the awkward questions and other moms trying to tell me how to raise my LO. I plan to EBF, CD, & not circumcise... yeah, that's going to raise some controversy. I don't want to spend my shower listening about how I won't stick with CDing or BFing.

I did try to decline the shower - numerous times. My MIL insisted that we have a shower. I really didn't have a choice unless I wanted to be extremely rude. I don't want to offend anyone.

Have you tried initiating it? Jump in the shower when he's in there and go down on him. Or wait until he's in bed and crawl on top of him. I can't imagine he will turn you down once you get him going... Don't ask him- just do it.

I can't imagine he finds you ugly!  He is probably just worried about "hurting the baby" or maybe he thinks you don't want it because you don't feel well?
