anatomy scan question..

in 2nd Trimester
To all that have had ultrasounds around 20 weeks such as their anatomy scan, is it a belly scan or an internal scan? Only my first scan has been internal so far and I'm kind of guessing that they're all going to be belly scans from here on out but I'm not positive. My sister-in-law and her husband want to be there for the anatomy scan and it just popped into my head, what if its an internal scan and I have to drop my panties... that might be awkward. :)

    I had mine about a week ago and the small talk that came up when I was complaining about full bladder.  The tech said that if your bladder is not full enough they might do an internal for whatever reason.  I can't think how it makes a difference cuz I got to completely empty my bladder about 20 minutes in because my bladder was so full it was obstructing the view.

    My office gave us a free gender check at 17 weeks, and they were going to do a belly one, but she was kind of sitting down on my cervix, so the only way to see her goods was vaginally.  I don't know if they might have to do that during the A/S in order to get a shot of a certain organ or something.  Luckly I only had DH there, who has seen it all anyway :)

    I went yesterday and it was a belly scan. My bladder did not have to be full.

    It should only be on the belly, but they might have to do an internal as well if they need to see soemthing they can't (like your cervix, if the baby's blocking it).  They also may have to go very, very low on your pubic area to get shots of things, so keep in mind that you may have to drop your draws further than you might think appropriate to share with others.   

     

    Yep.  I carry so low that I have to pull my pants down to my pubic area.  I definitely would not want my brother in law in the same room.
