When is shower invite supposed to go out?

Hi my shower will be on June 5th and my friends haven't sent out the invites yet. Is that normal? They have been talking about it for a few weeks but I am getting anxious about not sending the invite with enough time for people to plan ahead to come. Of course I am also a control freak LOL it is so hard for me to let anyone plan anything for me! How early were your invites sent out?

My sister sent the invites for my shower about 5-6 weeks before. And a whole bunch of people still RSVPed that they were busy that day. I would say as long as you give 3-4 weeks notice it should be enough!

They should be out already.

Some people arent as much "planners" as others. I kinda had to bug my mom about it for a while a few months ago. Its a busy time of year, communions, graduations, weddings etc. So if you want to give people enough notice to plan, you should have them out at least 6 wks out. Thats when my mom sent mine, and as it was I had a few people bugging me about when they were getting the invites.

My sister sent mine out 3 weeks before the shower. I think a few weeks notice is fine.

I would say about a month before the shower... so now? Mine went out a bit more than that - maybe 5 weeks before?

My mom sent mine out 3 weeks before but I would have prefered at least 4 weeks just to give more time in case there was a problem with snail mail. We sent them out late because we changed the date last minute and the shower was literally planned for 3 weeks later (5-14). We did it earlier because I am expected to deliver between 34-36weeks and I felt the 6-11 date was cutting it very close but my mom felt I had plenty of time. I was able to convince her last minute to change when she had a wedding she wanted to go to on 6-11.

Thanks for the info. Sigh. Hopefully they will be going out soon, I don't know what the holdup is they are not even snail mail they are evites! I just need to give up control, if it was my mom or my sister I would bug them about it but since it is friends who each have a few kids I know they are busy and don't want to appear rude or ungrateful. I just invited so few people to begin with, it is going to be embarrassing if only a handful even show up.

The host of my shower waited until 3 weeks before just to order the invites, which take a week to come in, so they won't go out until 2 weeks before (it is May 21). Thankfully to make up for the bad timing, she sent an evite save the date. Not ideal, but still it gave people at least 3 weeks notice. I'm sure there will be several no shows, oh well, at least my closest friends should be there, as I have given them advanced notice of the date verbally.

Shower invites should typically go out 4-6w before the date. That being said, mine is June 5 as well and the hostess had some lady make them and they were supposed to be here the first of last week... oh no now it's last Friday, oh wait this Monday, oh now yesterday... and now she isn't mailing them out till this weekend...(assuming they actually showed up) so I totally TOTALLY feel your pain.

My shower is the same weekend as you, and I just got my invite in the mail yesterday. I'd say 4-5 weeks is a good heads up, but if everyone you are inviting already knows about it and the date and stuff, shorter than that would be fine.

Personally, I think they should go out 5-6 weeks in advance.

My shower is (supposedly) June 11th but my invites have not gone out yet. My MIL is throwing the shower and is a bit disorganized, so I expect they won't go out for several weeks...

My shower is that weekend as well and the invites haven't gone out yet though I believe they are being worked on/addressed since I got a call a couple days ago asking how to address one of them. I'm not too worried about it and neither is one of the hosts (though her husband believes they should have gone out a couple weeks ago Stick out tongue

:-/ I assumed the girl who is throwing my shower had everything under control since she's done this many times before.... She just mailed out invites for my May 15th shower this past monday and made a facebook event the same day.... Luckily most of the people invited are in our circle of friends and new about it anyway...

Hopefully your hostess is a little more 'on the ball'

They went out today, it is just an evite... but I noticed they left out one of my guests and misspelled anothers email address. Awkward, but I sent her an email and she fixed them . I am so thankful for them throwing me the shower, I hate asking for anything to change, but oh well!
