Anyone still not sleeping well?

I can not seem to get decent sleep.  Ever.  A couple hours here and there, max.  I wake up several times during the night still.  It isn't insomnia.  I am really tired and groggybut truly can't sleep fpr more than a couple hours before waking up. It is messing up my ability to get things done during the day.  I was on Unisom/B6 for M/S, but stopped taking that last week b/c the M/S is mostly gone.  The only difference i notice between taking the unisom and not (other than the nausea fix) is that when i take it, I am so groggy whenI wake that it's easier to fall back asleep.  I have a pregnancy pillow that I love.  getting comfortable isn't the issue.  Tips, anyone???

Re: Anyone still not sleeping well?

  • I don't have trouble falling asleep intially,I have trouble staying asleep. I may get 12 hours of "sleep" but I am really only asleep for maybe 3 to 5 at the most with the largest chunk of time being about 45 minutes uninterrupted. My OB said to wait until 3rd tri before she would perscribe me Ambien so I have been just take Benadryl in the middle of the night, and dealing with the groggy feeling in the morning.

  • I'm having trouble too. I can fall asleep no problem but will out fail every 1.5 hours or so I wake up. I did find the body pillow I got is helping a little, but I defintely wish I was getting more continuous sleep!

  • I toss and turn for HOURS before I can fall asleep. Even though I am so exhausted I can barely move a finger. I wake up about every 30 minutes to pee, then it takes me a while to go back to sleep. I am basically up all night. Oh well, at least I am not puking 24/7 anymore..
  • Still not sleeping through the night most nights but I'm just suffering through it. I actually think I might get more sleep once the baby comes.

Welcome to my whole life. I wake up every couple of hours or less nightly pregnant or not. I can count the times I've sttn on one hand. Obviously I have no advice. It sucks, sorry.

I too wake up several times a night, but I think it's my bladder that wakes me up. If anyone has a solution, I'm all ears!

  •  same here.  part of it is a comfort issue- there are sometimes that I just can't get comfortable...  Others times, I just wake up.   I also used to be a really heavy sleeper and not everything wakes me up.   Could it be our adjusting bodies?

This is my whole family. My mom is the only one who can sleep and we tease her that its why she's so type A, she's the only with energy to do anything! I had finally found something that helps and had to stop taking it because it's not safe for pregnancy.
  • I had been tossing and turning all night....but last week I bought a snoogle and there have been some nights I sleep THROUGH the night!  Do you have a pregnancy pillow?  I find I am so much more comfortable and not worrying about being on my back/stomach, so it helps me sleep!

  • Just these past few weeks I haven't been sleeping well.  I think part of it I have to get up to pee, and part of it is that I'm not feeling as comfortable.  I did just get a body pillow this past weekend, and I try to sleep with that.  But most of the time when I wake up I find it on the floor lol!

  • I too, like many of you, don't have an issue falling asleep, but wake up multiple times. I sleep my longest stretch from when I first fall asleep, generally 4-5 hours and then wake up to pee. From there I'm waking up every 2-3 hours, then in the hour or 2 prior to my alarm going off, I feel like I'm waking up constantly. I'm pretty comfie, so its not that. I hate this! I never had this issue when pg with DD.

  • My OB recommended me taking magnesium... It works!  you can get it at any health food store and it has helped with the awful migraines I was getting too.
  • I haven't slept the whole night through (with the exception of 2 nights) since I became pregnant.  I don't think it's insomnia either.  I can fall asleep no problem, just can't stay asleep.  Total bummer because I love napping and getting a lot of rest.  Ha!  Oh well.  Good luck to you!
