Trying to Get Pregnant

What books do you have?

Aside from TCOYF and What To Expect, what other getting pregnant or pregnancy books do you have?  Do you like them?

Aside from those two, I have Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn.
I haven't read TCOYF yet, but I felt that What To Expect was kind of a debbie-downer and Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn was very informative and more so about childbirth and newborn than pregnancy. :)

Re: What books do you have?

  • I don't really have any, but I read this book for an anthropology class, and it is awesome. It is more about following your instincts than "do this not that." She uses evidence and facts, and lets you form your own opinions. Just read the reviews for more proof on its awesomeness.

  • I have TCOYF & a couple of IF books that a friend's wife gave me.  I honestly don't know the titles, I've never read them.  (I also have a couple of PCOS specific books.)

For pregnancy books, I have WTEWYE & Your Pregnancy Week by Week.  I do like them.  I had Your Pregnancy first & then DH insisted I buy WTEWYE because that's the book all of his friends recommended.

  • When it comes to babies in general, I have a coffee table book called Amazing Baby. In terms of conceiving/pregnancy, I have TCOYF and a book called Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. (I'm a total hippie and plan to go natural alllll the way when it comes to birth.)

ETA: post fail. You should read the book I posted, she gives evidence to back attachment parenting and co-sleeping.

TTC: The Infertility Cure (Lewis)--yes, Fertility, Cycles & Nurtrition (Shannon)--not really

PG:  Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy--yes, Your Pregnancy Week by Week (Curtis/Schuler)--yes, Husband-Coached Childbirth (Bradley)--YES!

I also had The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (Iovine), but only read a little before I stopped--it just wan't that interesting to me.

I'd also like to read Ina May's book because I've heard so many great things about it.

ETA: I also have TCOYF--can't say enough good things about it, and What to Expect--eh, I like the Mayo Guide better.

  • So far I've read Birth: The Surprising History of How We Are Born and found it very interesting.  I've got some childbirth and parenting books picked out and saved to my amazon wishlist, but I'm saving those for when we actually get KU...
