pressure?

Anyone else's tummy feel really heavy? Its hard to explain, but when I stand up and walk around it feels like Baby is about to drop out. I'm a 1st time mom and 30weeks. Its only started recently, and scares me. Its some vaginal pressure, but mostly in my lower abdomen (like the bottom of my B bump, deep inside). Sorry if thats TMI, but its been worrying me

Re: pressure?

  • I've had this for about 3 weeks now... OB says baby turned head down at about the same point it started, and that being a FTM the baby tends to stay a little lower and stay there.

It's a good thing, but not a comfortable thing!  Keep your feet up when it gets bad.

ETA: I know what you mean, it comes in waves too, like when I was grocery shopping a few days ago and had to sit down.  MH asked what was wrong and I said it felt like my insides were going to fall out.

I have this also.  Started last saturday. My OB told me at my routine appt Monday that its just baby getting bigger, babys position, and your pelvic muscles and ligaments stretching etc to get ready for baby. He also ordered a u/s just to make sure and everything is A-OK! Which was a relief because it started all of a sudden and was pretty uncomfortable.  GL and check with your OB to set your mind at ease.

  • Pretty sure it's normal. I had ot with DS and it's starting again now. Like you (OP) said, mostly when I get up from sitting or laying down. I remember the last few weeks with DS, I had to start walking a little bent over and gradually straighten up haha. Must have been quite the site to see!
  • All of what everyone said above!  I just had this discussion with my OB yesterday.  She saw that at my last 2-3 appts. I'd be complaining about the pressure.  Well I had planned to ask her if she suggest one of the maternity support belts and she actually brought it up before I did.  She also mentioned that in a way it's 'good' to feel this pain because it means your body is loosening up for delivery.  I'm going to go to BRU tonight and check out what they have.  I figured it's worth it to try and releave some of the pressure.

  • This just started for me yesterday. I notice it mostly in the morning and am assuming it's just LO's weight moving lower in my body after laying down. The bottom/sides of the bump will be sore for about 3 minutes and then fine (not BH, just stretching to accommodate the weight). Then she'll tuck in tighter and I'll feel fine again.
  • I cant hardly walk sometimes and it hurts for me to lift my legs very high when getting dressed.  I just feel so sore down there.  I go to the doc on Monday and I plan to ask him about it as sometimes i just want to cry.

I have it as well. Some days it isn't so bad, other days its uncomfortable. Today is an uncomfortable day. I'd wear the belt, but that just pushes on my bladder, and baby is doing enough pushing on that. But, LO is head down right now and real low, and I assume all the soreness/pressure is my hip/pelvic area just preparing for baby in 8 weeks.

  • Does it also hurt?  I had the same pressure feelings, combined with shooting pain.  Turned out to be a bladder infection.  It's probably just LO's position, but definitely mention it to your doctor so they can rule out a bladder infection.
