So the new list for 2010 is up. How did the names you guys have chosen for your LO's fare? We're still undecided on our little girl's name but both of them have decreased in popularity, one minimally and one by quite a lot.
I'm kind of sad that our boy name jumped up almost 100 spots.

Re: 2010 SSN Name list up
Our baby girl, Audrey, was only 52 last year! Yay.
We wanted something pretty and classic but not too popular. I've been hearing it more often so I was affraid it was rising in popularity. I really didn't want a top 10 name (no offense).
Her highest ranking was 44 in '08 and lowest was 115 in 2000.
DS#1 Oliver was 118th in 2008(the year he was born)
DS#2 Jack was 44th last year
Abigail is number 7....even though we aren't calling her Abigail (she's Abbey) most of them will go by Abby or something like that...
It doesn't really bother me though...and because I live in Quebec most people (French-Canadian) are less familiar with the name...Abigail is growing a little (though the French pronounce it COMPLETELY differently)...but most people who hear say it's very pretty and "unique" lol
That is one of our possile names... I'm glad it went down at least. I'm hoping it will continue to trend that way and become even less popular!
We're naming LO Oliver, and that name looks like it's been getting more and more popular! in 2000 it was in the 300s and now it's #88. Not too bad though!
DS is Benjamin, and his name has been steadily in the 20s for the past 10 years, so popular I guess.

Same with the name we chose. I didn't realize it was SO uncommon. We haven't shared it with anyone yet.

Violet went to #123, I have been hearing it on this board often so I was getting nervous that it would be #75 or less.
Avery (which we named our DD 6 yrs ago) is now #23, ick!
BFP #1 - m/c on 12.22.09 @ 8w3d
BFP #2 - d&c on 07.22.10 @11w1d
BFP #3 - DS born on 06.22.11 @41w3d!
BFP #4 - Due 04.24.13
Ours is #4 but it doesn't bother me. My name was #13 when I was born and I have only met two in my life and have lived all over the country as well.
I don't think it's as big of a deal as some people make it out to be. Just my opinion.
Eh... Jacob has been #1 for over a decade, but I swear I don't know that many Jacobs!!
It's still probably a very low percentage of the entire population, and your kid is probably still likely to be the only one in his/her class with that name, regardless of what you pick.
Oliver is a wonderful name:)
Layla is # 37....which is actually higher then I thought it would be!
We wanted something original but not unheard of.. i love it, regardless
I think the popularity should be broken down more by region, because if the name is popular nationally but not at all in your area, it's still okay. I have a pretty common name but never had multiple of us in the same class. However, in our area, for baby girls born in the early 1980s, the most popular name by and large was Jennifer. It was so confusing because in every single class from Elementary through High School we would have so many Jennifers that you'd start to run out of nicknames.
Carter- #48.
It's consistently risen in the last 10 years. That's fine with me. I like the more common/classic names, but H wanted something more unique. It was a good compromise.
Alexis moved from 13 to 16. I don't care one bit that it's popular
Faith is also in the top 100.
His name went down a little! It's not super popular, but still higher on the list than I expected once we picked it so I'm excited it's losing popularity.
SILs name went up in popularity, but I'm not surprised because there are a lot of little girls on this board that will have the same name! (Avery, which I love and would never be able to use because I have a little cousin named Avery).
This is how our girl name is. It looks like it was only in the top 1000 once and then it was 998 or similar.
Eventually the list is broken down by state, but I think that's later in the year.
my 9 y/o niece is a Kaylee and she has three others on her soft ball team!
My name isn't all that common but at DH's work three of the guys have wives named April! So weird. That has got to be an odd coincidence.
