I have gotten CIO suggestions from other people but I just cant do it =(
He is currently sleeping in bed with me and I am not a fan. I am not getting a good nights sleep at all especailly since he is still waking to nurse at night. I have tried giving him the bink but he has never really been a fan..he would prefer to nurse instead.
Anyway..if your child coslept with you..how old were they and what did you do to get them back to thier bed?
I already do the bath routine before bottle/nursing and I have tried to put him down awake with a lovey and the same music but he wont do it..and I have also put him down asleep and he wakes up within a couple of hours and wont go back down in the crib...I have tried to get him to warm up to a "lovey" for bedtime but he doesnt seem a fan of it.
Re: My 9 Month Old will not sleep in his crib...
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
DS coslept in our room from birth until about 5 or 6 months old. At that point, I started letting him sleep in our bed because he wanted to nurse all.night.long (combination of teething and illnesses, etc) just so I could get some sleep. It wasn't until DS was about 8 1/2 months old that I decided something HAD to change. I decided to try CIO one night when DH was working late, because he also "didn't have the stomach for it." DS cried about 10 minutes that night and STTN. The next night he cried for maybe 5 minutes. Since then DS sleeps in his crib every night.
We nurse, do bath (if it's bath night), read a book, brush teeth, say his nightly prayer and then he goes into his crib. Sometimes he will cry for a couple of minutes, but sometimes he just rolls onto his tummy and goes to sleep. CIO is tough, but I needed to do it for all of us in order for everyone to get a good night sleep.
My DD co-slept with me until 5 days ago. She started wanting to sleep on her tummy and my bed is just to soft and fluffy for that. We did the Ferber Method. I am NOT a fan of hearing her cry but we gave it a try anyway. Much to my surprise, she cried HARD for the first 5 minutes and right when I was about to do my first soothing visit, she settled in to an angry fuss that I felt didn't require me going in there. She did this off and on for 24 minutes until she fell asleep and slept the WHOLE night!! First time ever. Second night, same thing. Third and fourth night she was out in 5 minutes and last night she was out in 40 seconds. She's STTN every night. My heart still thuds in sadness at the thought of hearing her cry but she's taken to the crib like a champ.
Give it a try, you may be surprised.
