I spend FOREVER trying to find the perfect one. However, I found my mom one for mothers day.
(Front) Having grandkids must be nice
(Inside) They're like fun and revenge all wrapped in one.
Ha!

Little Man (4 years old---holy cow)
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
Re: I hate buying greeting cards
Oooh, I like that.
The one I got for my mom says
(front) Of all the things that have ever grown because of you ...
(inside) I may be the most grateful.
I crossed out "may be" and wrote AM in big letters. It's got Lucy from Charlie brown watering plants on the front.
For DH's mom, we went with the standard really pretty/artsy card that is blank, but is also really small. That way it isn't obvious we don't have a lot to say to her on Mother's day. I think this year it will just be "Happy Mother's Day" then we'll all sign it and include Natalie's name (which is how we are telling her it's a girl.) After her response when we told her we were having a baby, DH has zero interest in communicating anything else without her initiating. This is his compromise.
I don't mind buying them for my mom, it takes me awhile to find the right one, but I always find one.
But picking one out for DH's is always harder- they don't make a lot of cards that say something like, "you were an okay mom, as long as you were on your meds"

Oh, that sounds like fun - let's see, a card for my MIL would have to say:
"You were a pretty crappy mom, but since you never really liked kids to begin with and only had them because it was the socially acceptable thing to do at the time I guess we can't blame you too much."
