I had my quad-screen on Monday and they said things look good except my platelets are low. I need to go back in a month for another blood test to see where they stand. Anyone else with this or know someone who is?
Yes, I have ITP. Years ago drs found that I have an antiplatelet antibody. My numbers never dipped below 80 and I won't need to be treated unless they go below 50. I have been seeing a hematologist during the pregnancy, and my levels are currently close to normal- hovering b/w 125 and 140. DH and I hope to have a natural birth and dr sees no prob with that. He mentioned that if we were to opt for an epi, platelet levels could affect that decision.
Hematologist said he will just monitor me and sees no impact on the pregnancy. I'm supposed to look out for petechiae around my ankles and should call him right away if I see any. He gave me some literature to read about low platelets during pregnancy that I found comforting. Dr said the baby will need to be checked for low platelets after birth, but everything is looking good so far.
