is there anything you wish you had remebered, brought with you, known, etc. the first time you brought baby out. ive got a bag packed with diapers, wipes, extra onesie, hand cleaner for me and dh, bottle just incase she wakes and wants to eat though she shouldnt till we get back. anything else i should know?

Does she need gas drops? Extra burp cloth. Changing pad. Camera. Sunscreen. Snacks for mom (haha - a MUST!), emergency phone numbers, maybe an extra shirt for you (sometimes) if you are breastfeeding and it gets messy. It all depends on where you are going and how long you will be gone.

You might want a whole extra outfit/sleeper for LO, not just the onesie. Especially if you might be feeding while you're gone.

Also, I always have at least one receiving blanket - I find so many uses for them!

Not sure if you use a paci, but you may want to pack an extra one in case one goes missing along the way.

Large size zip lock bag...I had a bottle leak all over his change of clothes and I had nowhere to put them. Definitely snacks for you too!

I forgot to mention a plastic bag (or five) to put a dirty diaper in if you change in the car (like we always do).

An extra outfit for LO for sure. Also, I have a "wet bag" that I've used twice for wet/soiled clothes. A Ziploc would be fine too!

The first time I went out I took his Moby out of his diaper bag b/c it made it big and bulky and I thought: "Oh, he'll just sleep in his carseat/stroller the whole time." Biggggg mistake -- the instant we got to our designation he woke and wanted to be carried for the next hour. I thought my back was going to break (I was one week post partum). So now I keep an extra Moby in the car at all times. I actually prefer his Baby Bjorn and will take that if I know I am going to be out a long time, but having the extra Moby just in case is also great.

I try to take as little as possible. Maya wrap sling, 3 cloth diaper prefolds, 4 cloth wipes, wet bag, spare clean outfit, and a big thick blanket that we can use to wrap her up or as a changing pad. Keys and cards in my pockets, maybe a pair of sunglasses.

His first day out was the day after he came home and it was just to go to the hospital to get his bilirubin checked. We had to feed and change though still since we live 45 minutes away. We forgot a burp cloth and extra socks. During changing he peed everywhere and luckily his outfit was saved (had another one anyway), but his socks were soaked. Definitely used the wet bag for the socks though so that was nice! We did take some pics of him in the car though on the cell phone for his first day out.
