How to handle naps on day trip?

We want to take a day off of work to go to the Dunes or something fun as a family. But wouldn't be staying over night anywhere. My concern is nap time...not sure how we'd handle that if we were just gone all day??? But getting a hotel when it's 45 minutes away just seems silly too...

what would you do?

usually on busy all-day outings DD will conk out during the car ride.

If we're out for the day, we just forget the naps. DS adjusts pretty well. He also sleeps in the car if we're going from here to there so that helps, as well.

We tend to do stroller naps in quiet restaurants.
