6-9 has a thread about chips, which I'm now seriously craving. What flavors do you guys really like or really despise? Do you do anything weird with them? And.....go!
I am a salt and vinegar addict. Or plain. If I go for other flavors, I'm a chip snob. Has to be Walkers (imported from the UK, in only a few of our local shops). I like their cheese & onion, roast chicken, full english, steak & onion and beef flavored hoops. Oh yeah, I also like Mexican Chili.
I get the yuck factor from ketchup chips (really hate...haven't had one in 30 years, the smell alone, yeuch), dill pickle, all dressed, pickled onion, and prawn cocktail. And I'm meh about other flavors, I'll take it or leave it (mostly leave).
The weird. I use Mexican Chili chips to dip in my chili. It's a double dose of spicy. I sometimes (on the rare occasion we actually have chips in the house) will stick chips in my sandwich. It's a habit I picked up in junior high. My friends and I collectively only had enough change for 1 bag of chips, so at lunch we'd walk to the corner store and buy a bag, and split it so five of us had enough to cover our sandwiches.
Re: Wanna play?
Yep, just chip....not Doritos or nachos or cheesies...too many combos and possibilities. I'm a Kettle Chip fan, Miss Vickies Malt Vinegar and Sea Salt. The Thai is good too, but it is fairly elusive in our badly stocked grocery stores and local Walmart (but that is a total vent post for later).
Plain or vinegar and salt get my vote
My Blog

I'm a wavy chip rather than a plain chip kind of gal. And I love them with French Onion dip. Lays are better than Ruffles but I won't be too choosy.
Kettle chips are good, too. We have a local brand of Boulder chips that are pretty good, too. And here's my FFFC a little early. I have a weakness for Original Pringles.
On the hater list... GimmeTimmie's right. Those ketchup chips are disgusting. We tried them on our honeymoon in Nova Scotia and they still haunt me to this day!
No hate here...I refuse to buy them because that little tube with 100 chips in it and tons of salt seems really easy to devour. They have their own little weird flavour. And they are no where near as good as S & V. But you pop the seal on those suckers, and ::POOF::, gone.
Yep.. they're definitely a guilty pleasure! And who needs the reclosable lid? Is it even possible to NOT eat the entire container?
Not possible at all!! And I swear, my kids have freakin' radar when it comes to stuff like this. You make that popping sound, they could be completely out of earshot at the time and suddenly you find yourself with four pair of eyes (S doesn't do it yet...) staring back at you. And K saying, "Whatcha got??". So any treat in our house is a rare luxury, and not having to share, priceless. And I could so eat it myself! My waistline silently thanks them.
::runs to make a healthy dinner, again::
Now to make this totally unhealthy, we use to eat orginial Pringles with Easy Cheese on top. Remember the cheese that comes in a can. We were amazing eaters in college.
Salt and vinegar or lime for me. I'd love to eat some of the other flavored chips but can't since there's MSG in most of them. Since we've gotten to Australia I've noticed some interesting flavors. Once I'm feeling adventurous I'll try some since most Aussie foods have no MSG.
Got to agree with the Pringles too. MMMM.....
LOL, DH busted a gut over the easy cheese!! We didn't even bother putting it on anything, just squirted it in our mouths and stuffed chips or hot dogs down our gobs! mmmm spray cheese. And chased it with beer. Sad. I don't miss eating like a college kid. Mostly.
LOL Amtaka, you'll love their chips! Tasty Toobs are a lot like Hula Hoops. I think they come in those snack mix bags here. Smith's is pretty much Lay's anyhow.
Kettle Chips Salt and Pepper - there's not much better! Although I do like good bbq but those seem really hard to find these days.
And if we're talking Pringles, why not talk about all their delightful world wide flavers - spicy crab being the most surprisingly good thing to have been bought at a 7/11 in Thailand
Oh, I'd go for spicy crab!!! DH makes an addictive spicy crab dip to go with ripple chips, it's mouth watering. I saw the Maui Onion, Costco had them and they disappeared. I only tried one at their sampling stations, they weren't bad...I'm surprised they would discontinue them, they were popular here.
And
on the English chips, esp steak & onion. Just not pickled onion or worchestershire sauce. Ick.
