DD calls my mother "Nana", my step mother "Granny", my MIL "Grandma" and DH's grandmother "Gigi". I'm glad everyone agreed to a different name so it's less confusing for DD!
I let DD decide what to call my parents. She calls my mom Grandma and my dad Papa Tony. I love how Italian it sounds.
MIL decided her name (Memere, I hate it and refuse to say it, it sounds so pretentious when MIL says it "meh-may") and FIL signs everything Pop Pop but it sounds like Papa to me when she talks to him.
My mom and dad will be Nana & Papa. MIL & FIL will be Grandma & Grandpa. They decided on what they wanted at our combined family dinner in April -- and everyone was happy!
Grandma and grandpa. I'm not really one for cutsie names, and unless LO comes up with a name for them himself and it sticks, then it'll just be Grandma and Grandpa on both sides. I always called both sets of grandparents "grandma" and "grandpa" and it never confused me.
I'm not really sure that is my or their decision... I mean you can encourage them to say a certain name, but chances are they won't be able to say it. Sometime the name they butcher sticks... Lol
my nephew calls my mother "Nina" somehow he changed nana to nina so I think we'll stick with that when our baby is here because dh mom wants to be nana so I think it works. As far as my step father he'll be pop pop and dh's father will grandpa.

I totally agree with this! I was to call my grandmother nana and with my whiny voice I kept changing it to Nannn-ny. So nanny stuck.
I was just curious. I think Granny Sue would be cute. As DH's parents want Grandma and Grandpa.
My IL's are Grandma & Grandpa. My parents are Gran Jan (mom's name is Jan) & Grandaddy.
Gran Jan came about from neighborhood kids after my siblings and I had moved out of my parents house. Once they actually had grandchildren, it stuck. :-)
DD calls my mother "Nana", my step mother "Granny", my MIL "Grandma" and DH's grandmother "Gigi". I'm glad everyone agreed to a different name so it's less confusing for DD!
Totally unrelated, but one of my good friends had a baby girl today and named it Hadley Mae! Love the name
My MIL will be called grandma in Chinese (sounds like "Ning-ning kind of) and my mom will be Noni. But my dad is a different story. He has some aging issues to say the least and wants to be either Grand-Dude or G-Daddy. <roll eyes> But I love him and and can be whatever he wants . . . I just hope LO picks something normal and that my dad falls to pieces when he hears it for the first time

We have an ajee and ajaa (it's Hindi and I have no clue how to spell it) and a nonnie and papa (my parents). My son picked the names for my parents when he was a baby. It stuck so it works.
My mom's side of the family is Dutch, so her mother was always Oma to me, then her father/stepmom were Grandma and Grandpa. My dad's parents passed before I was 2. Now that my mom is a grandmother, she will also be Oma to our son, and my stepdad will be Papa. ILs will be Grandma and Grandpa. My Oma will be Omi (pronounced O-mee) and my Grandma (my mom's stepmom) will be Gigi.
My father will likely be Grandpa also...if he gets his sh!t together such that I will allow him to be anywhere near his grandson...
My mom will likely be Grandma and SOs mom will be Nan or Nanny (that's what my nephews call her now). Sadly our kids won't have Grandfather's. They will have Great-Grandfather's though (hopefully for longer than not). In that case my Grandad will be Great-Grandad and SO's Pop will probably be Pop K and his Nan will be Nan K.
SO's stepmom will be Nanny C (her name is Connie).

I know this probably sounds strange but I hate the way all "grandparent" nicknames sound other than the traditional, "Grandma and grandpa". With that said, neither set of grandparents are going with that. My mom and dad are "Nanny and Papaw" and my in laws are "Grand daddy (which I will automatically want to follow with "long legs" hee hee) and Mere (french for mother which I think is weird, since she is not my daughters mother, but apparently that is what she called her grandmother growing up....)
Grandmother on Mommy's side is Nanna, Grandfather on Mommy's side is Grampa, Grandmother on Daddy's side is Mammy, Grandfather on Daddy's side is Papa(poppa), Great-grandmother's are Gramma, Grammy and Gramma. Great-grandfathers are both Poppy! LOL
My mom They call Grammy and my mom'smom they called GIGI. My step mom they call Grandma Jo (her name is mary JO) and my dad's mom Meemaw. My husbands mom they call Grandma, and her mom they call Great. I asked my mom and she told be...I reallt want to be called grammy, that was 6 yrs and 4 kids ago and it has stuck...lol
Holli wife to Sweet hubby Steve, Momma to 4 great kiddos with another on the way! Furry momma to 1 big dog.

My H is 100% Duutch and I wanted his parents to be Oma and Opa but they didn't take to it so they are just plain Grandma and Grandpa. My parents are Grammie and Papa. I have a friend who's kids call her MIL Granna and I think that is cute.

My neice calls my mom Grandmom so that's probably gonna stick but my children have ALOT of grandparents so it will probably grandmom_____ so we know which one he's referring to. I have two moms (adopted/biological) MH has two moms (biological and stepmom) and MH's grandmom is still alive but nobody calls her great grandmom so she's grandmom_____ too.

Back before my brother and SIL had kids, my parents had said they wanted to be Nana and Grandpops. Well, my oldest nephew called them what he wanted, and so for the last 16 years they've been Mom-o and Dad-o. We'll probably stick with those.
My IL's don't have other grandkids yet, so they're wanting to be Nita-mom (her name is Anita) and Jim-dad. I think those are cute names and hope LO uses them... but after seeing what went down with my parents... well, we'll just have to see.

My mom is "Mimi" to her grandkids, my stepdad is "Poppy", my dad is "Grandpa" and my ILs will be the traditional Grandma & Grandpa. I grew up with a Nana/Papa and Oma/Opa (my dad's mother is German)

This is how I feel unless you are using a name from another culture. My MIL has aging issues and refuses to be called Grandma...everything she's come up with so far has sounded completely rediculous so I'm praying the baby will come up with his/her own nickname.
Ds calls my mom 'mee mee' while trying to say Grammy. He calls my dad 'Pap Pap.' My mil is called 'Yia Yia' and my fil is called 'ampa Ali' while trying to say Grandpa Ali
It's really hard to tell your kids what to call your parents. With DD, she couldn't say grandma for the longest time, so it was "Mimi". She didn't call my MIL anything until she could say Grandma.
When my nephew was born my sister was insistent that he call our mom "Grandma". Do you think that happened? Nope. He would hear DD call her "Mimi" so that's what she is. He now calls ALL of his G-ma's "Mimi".
My Dad (who has passed) is known as "Papa Joe" and FIL is "Papa".
Well DD just started calling SO's dad papa on her own. We always called him grandpa and one day she was just like papa papa. As for my mom and SO mom she calls them both nama. She can't quite say grandma and that is what comes out. Personally my mom and SO parents had no say in what she calls them. My nephew calls my mom nana. So my mom get called nana Rose and nama.

Hubby's side - Grandma and Grandpa
My side - Grammy and Grampy
We're not very original.
My mom and dad will be Nana & Papa. MIL & FIL will be Grandma & Grandpa. They decided on what they wanted at our combined family dinner in April -- and everyone was happy!
Whatever works for them, works for me.

based on my niece and nephew...
My dad and FIL will both be Papa
My MIL is Nana
My mom is Nanny (her name is Fran so she is actually Nanny Franny haha)
