I've been trying to post but have been just trying to get into a routine with him.
We got to the hospital at 8:30 Friday night to get the induction process started. I had been having regular contractions since about 2 that afternoon and around 7pm they started to become between 4 and 6 minutes apart. We finished our dinner and headed to the hospital. We got situated and at about 10pm they started me on the cervidil.
Unfortunately for me the nurse didn't check me to see how effaced I was before starting that so within 20 minutes or so I was in agony. I was having contractions one right on top of the other. After about an hour a nurse came into check on me because I was screaming bloody murder. They called the doctor who checked and at about 11:30pm took out the cervidil since I was completely effaced.
By 12:45pm the contractions were so strong I opted to get the epidural. My blood pressure was really low at this point so I got a shot to help bring it back up. At 1am the epidural started taking effect and they checked me I was 3cm. They came back in at 2am to check me and I was 6cm and at 3am I was 9cm. They broke my water at 3:15 and they left me for an hour.
At 3:45 they gave me a shot of something to slow the contractions down since they were coming one right after the other and were causing him distress. At 4 I was complete and they finished getting the room ready. Unbeknown to me, fr 9 minutes leading up to pushing he was having decels and his heart rate was down in the 50s. At 4:15 I started pushing and with the help of an episiotomy and a vacuum he was born at 4:24am, weighing 7lbs 3oz and 20 inches long.
Things are going alright. Last night was our first night home and it was rather rough. He is amazingly able to get a decent latch even with the cleft.

Ciara - he is beautiful and that is awesome news about the latch with the cleft, Great news!
COngrats Mama! LOVE the new siggy. Edmund looks so alert and wide eyed! Hopefully he will let mama get some rest in the days to come! Enjoy this special time, it's hard to imagine now, but it does go by so fast.
GREAT news with his latching! Nursing is HARD, and latching is half the battle!

Congratulations!! So glad to hear you guys are doing well. Nursing is so.dam.hard at first, I'm glad that you guys are off to a good start with that despite the cleft. Sounds like the little man is already determined not to let anything slow him down!
And, the first few nights are always so hard I think because having a brand new baby is such a shock to the system. You guys will get into a rhythm soon I'm sure and it will get easier.

Ditto this. Congratulations! I remember thinking at that point that even though sleep was hard to come by, at least it was a lot more comfortable with an outside baby!
