Don't assume that your post-partum size will be bigger than your pre-pregnancy size!
As background, I have gone up three pant sizes over the past few years. When I got pregnant, I was at the top of that size range. At some point during the pregnancy, when I was freaking out about how huge I was getting, I donated almost all of the smaller dress pants because I was positive I would never fit in them again post-pregnancy. I kept all of the large sizes and several of the middle sizes thinking I was being optimistic.
Thanks to breastfeeding and a baby who was only happy in motion for the first three months of his life, the large sizes are now falling off of me. The middle sizes are baggy. I have 1 pairs of pants in the smaller size that I kept and they fit for the most part - maybe a little snug. So basically, I have no pants that fit. And that means I have a lot of nice suits that I can't wear. And I don't have time to shave my legs, so wearing dresses/skirts isn't an option.
I guess I need to hit the mall soon.
Re: Bragplaint but also a PSA to pregnant bumpies
Sigh. You're one of "those" mommies who gets really skinny after birth.
Just kidding. Really, that's awesome!! Enjoy it and treat yourself to some new stuff!!
That's great!
I was the same with DD#1 - I lost all the baby weight and then another 15-20 pounds. With DD #2, not so much. I have lost most of the weight but am 10 pounds up from my lowest with DD #1 even though I gained less weight with DD #2. Doesn't seem to come off as easily the second time around, even with BFing.
Congrats...right?
I had the same problem post-pregnancy. I didn't even need to unbutton my old jeans to take them off. Bags under my eyes + my tops always having to be nursing-friendly + clown pants + hair always in a ponytail = frumpy mess for a few months. But I didn't want to but many new, smaller clothes because I figured I'd gain weight once I stopped BFing (and I did), just like you pointed out. Also, we move often, and I hang onto everything because I never know what seasons and weather I'm going to be in. I don't like buying new stuff when I have plenty of "perfectly good" clothes (though no longer in style, hello jeans bought in 2004). The last four years of relocating, pregnancy, postpartum, BFing, and not being able to work out as much as I'd like have taken a toll on my wardrobe. So you have my sympathy because what seems like a great thing actually turns into a hassle.
Hopefully you can manage to go shopping and treat yourself to a few necessities for the summer. Even if you don't want a bunch of pants heading into the warm weather, adding in some new accessories, too, might help you feel more like your old self.
