Trouble TTC

:(

I don't know what to do with this body anymore. If it's not PCOS that's blocking the road to pregnancy... then it's something else... like bladder infection #283472938.....

Okay, I'm exaggerating.. but I'm averaging about 1 bladder infection or urinary tract infection every two months. I drink cranberry juice, I load up on water, I pee after I have sex, I have great personal hygiene.. this is driving me insane.

What good is Clomid going to do when it's too painful to have sex when I need to be having it? I'm guessing I'm probably out this cycle since I won't be having sex for the next couple of days, and Murphy's law will make it so that if I O this cycle, it will be those days.

I'm so mad at my body right now.

I'm sorry, bladder infections are awful. Could there be a medical reason why you keep getting them? And I'm sorry it is going to interfere with TTC this month, ugh.

  • I'm so sorry, but I think I might have some advice for you.  I used to get UTI's all the time with frequent sex.  My doctor called it honeymoon cystitis. LOL!  He put me on a low dose of Macrobid (antibiotic) to take every time we have sex.  I haven't had a UTI since.  I hope this helps!

I wish that would work for me, but I've been on Macrobid before and had to stop taking it because it was making me so sick (nausea/vomiting). My doctor says that he's limited as to what he can give me that's safe while TTC, so he's just treating them as they come.

  • awww...I am so sorry.  That sounds really painful and super annoying.  Hopefully O will wait until after the bladder infection has gone away!  Hope you feel better soon!

I'm so sorry to hear about the UTIs. I despise them, I used to get them all the time as well. I don't really know of anything else more you can do. I know there are cranberry pills if you don't want to drink tons of juice.  I know how hard and painful it is. So sorry to hear your going through this madness. That really sucks.  Macrobid is the only med I can tolerate for UTIs.  Darn, I was hoping I could help!

I know how terrible it is to have recurrent urinary and YI's.  I was suffering with both nearly every month when we started TTC.  I was at my wit's end!!!  Nothing my doctor suggested was working for me.  So I started researching on my own...

Since I started taking Ultimate Flora Vaginal Support pills (probiotic), I haven't had an infection of either kind since last September!  It supports both vaginal and urinary health.  It's a bit pricey at $30, but it's been priceless for me.

  • It just seems like nothing about this process is easy.  Like you said if it is not one thing it is another.  Sorry to hear the issues are really piling themselves up on you right now Sad

My sister has this problem, always after AF but mixed in with yeast infections once the bladder infection goes away.  She has been feeling like a crazy personal hygiene lady too.  Once she thinks she has it kicked, it is back.

Have you tried to see if you are allergic to certain foods?  Not sure it is what is causing your issues, but you never know.  She was not allergic to foods growing up and now she has a whole list (including shell fish & eggs).

    GL!

  • #1 women need to stop beating themselves up over UTIs.  I've been to the ER with kidney infections, on meds over and over for UTIs, and I don't go anywhere without the little red OTC pills that numb your urinary tract.  I've had more than one doctor tell me that it can have nothing to do with sex or being "dirty" -- some women just have short urethras and that bacteria just makes its way up there sometimes.  I've been getting UTIs since I was 1 year old, so that takes the sex issue off the table! I take a cranberry-cinnamon supplement from New Chapter that might be a placebo, but I think it helps.  GL!

Hot packs helped relieve the symptoms for me too.

I've also been having them since I was an infant, so I know it's not directly related to sex or "dirtyness", but sex certainly hasn't helped things. I'm not beating myself up over them, but I do try to do whatever I can to prevent them because they're awful, though seemingly, none of it works anyway... which is what is so frustrating. I wish there was something more my doctor would do, unfortunately, TTC makes it even harder for them to do anything since they're limited as to what drugs they can give.

  • I went through almost 8 months of on and off bladder infections when I was 26. I was in such pain and not sure what to do. I went to a urologist and he ended up given me pills that I could take right after intercourse and it helped so much. I too was like you, I took cranberry pills, lots of water, cotten underwear, urinating after intercourse and great hygiene. I do wish you luck with this b/c they are terrible and can ruin your day and of course your desire to have intercourse. BEST OF LUCK
