So my best friend had a super scary situation the other night. I thought I would copy and paste the email she sent to her neighbors. This happened in a nice neighborhood in Roswell. Off Crabapple.
Tonight a very scarey incident took place in our culdasac and I wanted to let others in our neighborhood know who and what to look for.
I was outside talking on the phone at 8pm with a friend while our little girl (age 5) was playing under our tree. I was sitting at the top of the driveway watching her play. A man in a car came slowly around and approached her and said, "Hey little girl." He did NOT see me watching her--so I immediately jumped up and ran down the drive way toward him while screaming at my little girl to run to the house. He had his right hand on the wheel with a white towel in his left hand. I screamed at him asking him what he wanted and he said, "Your little girl was trying to talk to me." I screamed back at him, "No she was not! Get out of here!" He sped away. While he may have not been a child predator--I definitely think its a possibility and you need to be informed--and VERY CAUTIOUS--especially with warmer weather and more time outside.
This man had driven our entire neighborhood (we're on Lakeside at Hamilton Commons) before coming in our culdasac. Another neighborhood saw him on the main road and thought he looked suspecious--especially with his old car and driving with a white towel with his windows down. NEVER leave your children in the yard unattended--I'm SO thankful I was right there to protect my sweet girl. We called the police and we gave a full description of this man and his car--and if you see the police out in our neighborhood in the weeks ahead they are just keeping an extra eye on things. However--if you see this suspecious man--PLEASE call 9-11 as they will be looking for him.
Here is the description: White male, heavy set. Thinning black hair. Bigger nose with out-of-date glasses. Probably in his 50s. He was driving a faded blue (close to blue-green in color) Nissan Maxima - a 90s older model - 4 door. In the back left smaller window there looks to be a hole but it may have just been a sticker or discoloration of sorts. I tried to get his tag number--but he had placed a new car tag on the back--and the policeman said this was typical of shadey guys like this one...so I was unable to get a tag number.
The Lord really protected us tonight--and I'm so thankful. We just had a conversation earlier this week and TODAY about stranger danger--so I'm so thankful. Let's look out for one another and keep a close eye on things this spring and summer--and never hesitate to call 9-11 to report suspecious guys like this one. I'd love folks like this to know that our neighborhood doesn't play around and we're quick to keep our neighborhood safe.
***After talking with the police...she found out that the white towel the man had in his hand is what some child kidnappers use. Sometimes it has some type of stuff on it to knock the kids out and/or silence them as they are being taken.***

Reading this makes me want to vomit. We have a neighbor little girl who is outside unattended ALL THE TIME and I want to slap her parents.
This isn't far from where we live - I think I may call their house with a warning.
DMoney will be a kickass big sister
That is so scary. Thanks for the heads-up.
And what is it with the "tags" that just have "tag applied for" hand-written on them. I see that on the back of cars all the time here. How is that even legal (or is it)? I've never seen this anywhere else. Either you have an actual license plate or a dealer issued temp-tag with a number on it.
