those of you who travel while on meds

What do you do with meds that need refrigeration? I am going camping and will need to have my progesterone supps with me. Do you think a cooler with some ice will do the trick?

I've had to travel with my arthritis meds before which also need to be chilled and I just put them in a cooler with ice packs. They seem to do just fine.

I was told the cooler is a bad idea because the temp changes when ice melts so I have a little refridge that plugs into the car or outlet at hotel. If i go on plane i do the cooler then transfer them when i land

I had to travel with my Gonal-F, and I just took the gel ice pack in a little cooler. But once it was opened, I didn't need to keep it refrigerated. And in reality, it's ok at room temperature for 30 days per the package insert (and the pharmacist). I don't know about progesterone supps though, I keep mine at room temp.

But I think the gel ice packs should be fine. They stay cold for a pretty long time.

My progesterone supps (prometrium) don't need refrigeration. I would use gel packs and ice in a cooler.

My progesterone supps didn't need refrigeration (crinone) but I think it would depend a bit on how long you were expecting to be without electricity. I packed my follistem with ice packs and went to the beach over night but I wouldn't trust an ice pack to stay cold for more than a day. We have a plug-in-to-the-car cooler but it's only good for 24 hours without electricity. You could get one with an ac/dc converter if the campsite has electricity.
