1st Trimester

how could you be so ignorant?

My face is so broken out???its really bad. Worse than any teenage acne I?ve ever had.

But whatever, I?m pregnant and I?ve been dealing with it just fine.

Until today?..a woman I work with, who I normally like, just said to me ?what happen to your face? Do you have poison ivy??

And I burst into tears?

So now, not only am I sitting here at work with a face full of acne, but most of my makeup is wiped off.

Why would someone say that?

Re: how could you be so ignorant?

  • oh- and.... has anyone had this happen and it's gone away? or am i going to be stuck with this for 9 months?

  • You are kidding me. What an ass!

But to answer your question, someone would say that because he's insecure about his innie penis. What a jerk....

  • Sorry that happened.  I really don't know why people say things like that.  It is like they are thinking out loud and have no filter.  If it is any consolation, my face today looks horrible.  I can't remember the last time I had so much acne on my face....good thing I am not trying to get any dates Smile
  • My face broke out like crazy in 1st tri, but it's getting better now. And that woman is a b!tch for saying that to you!!
  • I feel your pain, I do...I have had the worst acne ever since becoming pregnant and I feel like I am going through puberty all over again...the acne that I do have is not all over, rather it is all compiled on my chin!!! I read a post a while back that mentioned Tea Tree Face Wash at the Body Shop -- so I went to the mall and got some and it really does work...it has helped in clearing up my skin.

  • what a douche!  NOT ok.

i'm sorry that she said that.

i totally feel your pain though.  in fact... my DH and i went over to visit his brother/sis-in-law and their kids and their 6 year old daughter was sitting next to me and very sweetly asked, "auntie, what's this?  and this? and this?"  pointing to each one of my little pimples... ugh.  :)

it was so sweet that all i could do was laugh... so innocent.

don't worry about it.  once we get to the "glowing" stage she'll be jealous of how fan-freakin-tastic your skin looks. :)  chin up. :)

  • thanks mystic, i'll try anything at this point!

  • Wow that's very rude to say!

At least you can laugh in her face when she finally finds out you're pg and let her know she should be more conscious of her thoughts!

THATS the ignorant part.... SHE KNOWS!

  • Wow...what a twit!  I don't know why people have to point things out - like you don't know.

I once burned the crap out of my chin on a grilled cheese sandwich.  It blistered and everything.  Some goon asked me if I tried to pop a pimple.  Yeah....a huge, massive pimple that morphed into a burn.  Losers.

  • Thats so mean!!!  I have this lady at my husband's job who is constantly making mean comments about the way I look. Not that I have bad acne (mild pimples) but I look drained out, washed out and sickly all the time.  If I wasn't so tired ALL THE TIME I would splash some makeup on, only to have alot of it smeared after m/s. This women tells me I should wear make-up all the time because pregnancy is NOT becoming of me, or being pregnant doesn't look good on me, or YOU LOOK AWFUL.  At first I tried to explain how I feel physically and I got "so what, I still put on makeup and I was sick all the time". Now that the moodswings have begun I either lash out, screaming in the shop (Ian's boss doesn't appreciate that) or begin crying hysterically.  How could someone be so uncompassionate.
  • I am so sorry!!!  My face is a mess too and everyday I keep hoping that I will wake up and have beautiful skin....nope....all over my face neck and chest!!

Some people are just jerks! Just think how all this will be worth it when you are holding your baby...with nice smooth skin!

  • WOW that is rude!! I'm sorry she was so insensitive.

Just think, it's worth going through all this stuff for your little one.

  • i had HORRIBLE acne in 1st tri. My dad asked me one day if i had a rash on my forehead... WTF????? Somewhere after week 16-17 it all went away. I have clearer skin than before BFP, so there is hope in sight! hang in there.

  • Oh, people like that are infuriating!  I'm really sorry that happened to you.

If it makes you feel any better, once (when not pregnant, thus without any fun excuse) a co-worker asked me "what happened to your face?"  Needless to say, I was crushed.  But I did come back with, "you know, it's rude to make comments like that."

Not sure what difference it made to her, but it certainly made me feel better Smile

  • I had the same c*ap happen to me a few weeks ago.  People have no tact, really.

Its disgusting how some have no tact when your pregnant.

  • I had to laugh at your post.

I actually did have poison ivy on my face a few weeks ago, and I was getting A LOT of "Oh my gosh, what's wrong with your face??!!"

Of course, it did look like I had been beaten on the head with a stick.    It was all swollen and distorted.

I think if someone sees something abnormal, they're not asking to be insensitive, they're asking to make sure everything is OK.

  • Wow! What a b!tch. Unbelievable.

WOW. Now that is ignorance. I'm sorry you have to deal with such crappy people! Don't let it get to you!

  • Wow. That is just plain MEAN.

My skin is also worse than it has EVER been. All on my jaw line, my chin & underneath too, like on my neck. I look like a before picture for an acne product.

About an hour after telling my mom i was pregnant we were talking and she asked "what is wrong with your face?". I just said- 'wow mom, thats a nice way to ask. remember when i told you i was pregnant???'
