Trouble TTC

If you are TTC with one tube, please share your plan

Hey ladies.  I intro'd about a week ago.  Since then I got a BFP, but because of the hydrosalpinx (Dx'd one week before BFP), it is most likely an ectopic PG.  My betas were 22 at 16dpo and 32 at 18dpo.  I have one more  beta test tomorrow AM to triple confirm, but it looks like I'm headed for surgery and tube removal.

At any rate, I am just wonderng if you have one tube, what plan has your RE put you on?  We had discussed Clomid prior to hydosalpinx, but I'm not sure where we are headed now.

  • Sorry you are going through this ((hugs)).  The board is a little slow on the weekends, but there are a few ladies out there with similar situations.  GL with surgery T&P!

  • Hi there.  I only have one tube because of a genetic defect.  Unfortunately, my unconnected ovary was the one that liked to ovulate.  Most people's ovaries tend to take turns every month or so ovulating, but mine did not.  Hopefully you will not need any fertility drugs.  However, clomid worked for us (got my bfp on Friday).  I'm so sorry about your possible ectopic.  I hope things turn out for you.  Feel free to PM me any time.

  • I have a blocked right tube and it seems as though I do not have a right ovary.  Both by ob/gyn and RE have said you only need 1 tube to become pg.  As long as your ovary on the same side is the one producing follies.  We did 3 cylcles clomid + IUI and 3 cycles injects + IUI.  Unfortunately, they all resulted in BFNs.  I am sorry about what you are going through right now.  I hope you get some answers and good luck with your surgery!

Thanks for the support. Prior to the u/s showing the hydrosalpinx, we had discussed using Clomid due to how my charts look at my 7dpo bloodwork. I just wasn't sure if we will stay at that after my surgery or if most RE's would "step it up a notch".  I know this is a question for the RE, but with the rollercoaster I've been on during the last week,  I was more focused on the now instead of the future.I am hoping and praying that my right ovary decides to work.  In the very least, at least I will have monitoring to know if I have a chance prior to the 2ww.

  • During my HSG in January, we found out that both tubes were blocked - not a hydrosalpinx, but endo. Mine is a little different from you....see siggy for details.

However, my RE was more aggressive. I am only doing 2 IUI's at max (due to questionable egg quality) and then moving to IVF. Honestly, I would ask your RE what they would do in your position. Everyone is different, and it depends on all of your other factors (AMH, FSH, etc).

Sorry you are going through this. Good luck to you!

I had my right tube removed in January.  We decided to give it a few months trying on our own (it is true, you only need one), but haven't had success.  We're planning to pursue an IUI cycle with Clomid and Ovidrel starting mid-May.  Best of luck with your surgery and on getting KTFU.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your possible ectopic.  I had an ectopic last April, due to my tube not being connected to my uterus.  We tried for about six months on our own, and then went to an RE.  My ovaries took turns ovulating each month and we tried Clomid for three cycles and one IUI.  Crazy enough, we got pregnant on a break cycle, when I ovulated from my left side (good side).  GL.
