Just a question...

in 1st Trimester
I know that as soon as sperm and egg meet you start producing HCG, but seeing how I tested 3 days before my missed period and had a positive HPT what are the possibilities of why it happened? I am just a bit on the nervous side that the little one wont stick, or has it already? What are your opinions ladies...

    I really don't know for sure. Only time will tell if it sticks. I tested positive at 3wks, 5days because I ovulated early. 9 wks, 5days later, all seems to be well! GL!!

    if you got a BFP, then it has already implanted. You can't test for hcg unless it has implanted. No one can tell you if it will stick or not. the next few weeks are critical for everyone. good luck!

    This.  The production of HCG begins only when the fertilized egg has implanted in the uterus lining.  Whether or not the embryo is viable, or if it will stick are anyone's guess, but there's a potential baby in there.  Congrats!

    Implantation (which produced a gigantic surge of hCG as the placenta begins to form) usually occurs 7-10 days past ovulation, but can occur as early as 5 DPO.

    Unless you were carefully charting your BBT, you don't know if you ovulated a little earlier and when you likely implanted (hence the positive test).

    You won't really know if you have a sticky baby until he or she is born (or at least until past the 1st tri).

    What everyone else has said... you don't start producing hCG until implantation...

    Just as PPs stated you can't detect HCG until after it implants. It doesn't matter when you get a BFP on an HPT. I got mine 6 days before missed AF.
