Hello all! This is my first pregnancy and I am about 5 weeks along and am worring about everything! LOL I am wondering if it is safe to get a massage at this time... I will call my doctors office on Monday, but am just wondering if anyone knew?
Thanks a bunch!
Re: Is it safe to get a massage in your 1st trimester?
I've heard others on this board say it is not safe in the first tri as some types of massages may cause miscarriage.
I've heard that pregnancy massages are okay in the second and third trimester though.
But no personal experience, sorry
All of this. The place I go to is amazing and has a great staff, but they will not do one until you are in your 2nd trimester. I'm hoping to get one for Mother's Day (hint hint DH!), but if not, I still plan on getting one sometime during the summer.
what kind of massage can cause miscarriage? what is it that does it?
when i first saw this post i was like.. huh? how is this possible..
if you go to someone who knows how to do prenatal massages and as long as you're not sick (massage can make you feel worse), you're fine. There's one place on your heel you're supposed to avoid, and certain scents of massage oil to not use.
I just got one the other day!

Hi! I work for a national massage organization and my recommendation is no, do NOT get a massage in the first tri. Massage releases A LOT of toxins into the blood stream that isn't good for new pregnancies. Avoid them until second tri. Hope that helps!
