Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Do I need to worry about LO rolling in her crib?

Vivi just figured out how to roll from back to tummy.  She has not figured out how to roll back onto her back.  When she's playing on the floor and rolls onto her tummy I notice she'll press her face against the floor once she gets tired of holding her head.

If she's old enough to roll, is she old enough to lift her head to breathe while she's sleeping?

I know this sounds worrisome, but I have flash backs to when she was in NICU and forgot to breathe.

Do I need to worry?  Somebody tell me!!!  LOL  I'll probably worry anyway. sigh.

  • When E started rolling onto his belly in his crib I worried, but that lasted a few nights once I realized he sleeps better on his belly.  I don't really think there's a way you can stop it from happening though!  I do check on him before I go to bed and if I get up during the night at all.

And if he's on his tummy, you leave him there?  Or do you flip him to his back?

  • Well, either way you probably will still worry about it. I sometimes still check in on DS1 just to be sure. Really, though, she should be fine if she is able to roll & hold her head up when on her belly. I know it's hard but just try to not think about it too much.

She'll probably start rolling tummy to back soon as well. Sorry I'm not much help.

I leave him.  Most of the time when I lay him in there he rolls over immediately.
