2nd Trimester

Prenatals:

Okay, so during my first trimester I had awful morning sickness that lasted from lunch time well into the night. My nurse told me to try the gummy prenatal vitamins because they were easier to digest (during my last pregnancy the pills made me sick every time I took them). Does anyone know if they should be taken the entire time or if I should graduate to the pill? I mean, I know they are safe to take but do they have everything baby needs to develop. I guess I'm trying to say, is one better than the other?

  • I was super sick with mine the first 13 weeks until i switched to gummies and i LOVE them!  The only thing they don't have is iron...so you may need a supplement if it shows low in your blood.  Or each iron rich foods.  I have the Vitalife (i think) kind from Target and they are amazing!  Highly recommend them!!!

  • I think mine are VitaLife also. I got them at Walmart. I still get nervous for some reason before I eat them but so far so good. =)

  • My sister in law used them through her whole pregnancy and is continuing with them as she's breastfeeding.

  • I had horrible morning sickness that lasted all day long for about 4 months and my dr said i could also take two flinstones complete chewable instead of the prenatal pills.
  • Yes, they are only missing the iron, but it also says to take twice daily to get the full dosage.  I sometimes take 1, sometimes 2, depending on my diet that day.  It's always better to get the bulk of your nutrients in food as they absorb better.

  • Mine made me really sick too and my OB switched me to a Rx called Prenate. They have been amazing...easy on the tummy and no constipation. Big Smile
