Aside from the baby, I have requested a large cup of coffee from anyplace he can find one.  I don't care if it's Folgers instant- I am just excited to be able to drink a cup without vomiting.

    This exactly!

I agree... but... I asked for hamentashen ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamantash ), baklava and hummus from a hole-in-the-wall Mediterranean restaurant a few minutes from the hospital.

Sushi: extra spicy tuna rolls and a Philadelphia roll, cherry coke, and a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks! All I want are some of the things I gave up in order to keep my baby safe and healthy. My baby will be the best 'push' present I could ever get!

Totally my style, minus the white chocolate mocha. I think I'll want a necklace with the baby's name on it but that doesn't have to happen... Just a wish :)

    Something like this:

  • I also don't think the push gift is neccesary, but it is tradition in DH's family. I'm not sure what it will be but I'm sure it is simple/sentimental. No shame here! I

  • I think the only thing I am going to ask DH to get me is a turkey sub and an iced coffee. YUM!
  • A baby girl. Like others, I find the idea of push presents to be ridiculous.

  • I don't understand push presents either. The baby is the prize at the end of the road for me. However, the instructor of our prenatal classes pushed this idea pretty hard, so DH may end up getting me flowers or a balloon or something. If he's going to spend the money, I would love a simple little charm for my charm bracelet, but that's just me dreaming.

  • I couldn't care less about a push present. It would be nice if DH brings me flowers or something, but I'm not gonna ask, or be disappointed if he doesn't.

A local radio station and a local jeweler are running a contest for money for a push present. Every time DH and I hear the radio ad for it, we roll our eyes.

  • I agree that push presents are not neccessary and that as long as we have a healthy Baby, that is the greatest gift I could ask for and I will be over the moon happy.

I also agree that if my Sweetheart wants to do something extra for me (beyond the Brie and sushi he is promising), I will be touched and gracious. I had never heard of push presents until he told me about them (he read about them somewhere) and I told him it isn't something that is important to me.

Even so, he has asked a few more times about what I might like and I am not going to tell him that I don't care that he wants to get me a (reasonable) gift. He keeps giving me the Tiffany catalog to look through and asking what I like. IF he decides to get something, I am hoping for something like this https://tinyurl.com/44qz5yg. And if he doesn't bring a gift, that's perfectly fine with me. I am just happy to be married to him and that we are having this child together.

    peace,

  • Never heard of "push" gifts until this board. DH hasn't either.

I want nothing but my LO and DH's time and lots of help and nurturing after the baby!

  • My gift from pushing the baby out? Probably another round of hemerrhoids and even more snissing opportunities since having DS #1.

  • Just the baby, maybe some flowers (I got flowers last time).

When my mom had her kids she never expected or got anything. Then with her 4th, and last, baby a big bouquet of roses was delivered to her room. She cried, she was so happy. Turned out to be a mistake and they were for another new mom.  That made me so sad. So I do think it's nice if the dad thinks of the mom and wants to give her something, but I don't think it should be expected.

  • Healthy baby boy...

and I told DH he needs to bring an italian hoagie from my fav. deli to the hospital... and a Blue Moon!!

Our birthdays are both in May, and we both decided to skip gifts this year... we're just doing a nice dinner... we're both so busy doing things to get ready, that going out shopping for each other just seems like another chore to do.  We can get back to gift giving at Xmas. Smile

  • I don't think that push presents are silly.  I think demanding them is, but not actually getting them.  I know MH will be getting me a piece of jewelry, as he normally does for big events/holidays, but I don't know what.  I'm sure I will also get a mother's day gift from him because I already have a DD, despite the 2 days being only a month or so apart.

  • I requested that I be given any food item I desire.  I figure that will be sashimi or a super gross fatty burger.

LOL, you know it's funny that's what my sister would say, and when I was responding originally, I actually laughed out loud thinking about my sister saying that same thing.  It's funny you responded with the same.  Now that's funny :)!

  • DH's friend told him he has to get me something even thought I told him I don't want anything. He will probably get me some flowers or a stuffed animal from the gift shop which I would greatly appreciate but if not I won't be sad.

I would never tell anyone this IRL but I secretly think it would be awesome if he arranged for someone to clean the house while I am at the hospital or maybe an IOU for a dinner that I don't have to make when I get home.

  • I think the idea of a push gift is silly. I had never heard of it until the bump. My gift will be my son. MH and I also didn't get each other gifts for our wedding, we were the gifts...I guess I just don't see the point.

People get eachother gifts for their weddings?  Wow... I'm out of the loop. lol

I agree... the baby is the gift and I think it's a little ridiculous to expect DH to get you something!   Oh and a nice big beer I guess can be my gift... but that will probably be a couple days later! lol
