What is a SIP car seat?

BRU has categories for car seats. One is convertilble and another is SIP. What is a SIP car seat?

Re: What is a SIP car seat?

  • I think it stands for Side Impact Protection, but I could be wrong.
  • Loading the player...
  • I would think that would be a feature of a car seat then not a specific category. This lists it right along with infant, convertible, booster, SIP...

I'm trying to look for one that would be a forward facing seat that would detach to be a booster seat later. Obviously, for use after DS is 1.

  • Ah, but clicking on that category it includes infant seats, convertible seats etc.

Are not all seats tested for side impact? Is it something specific you'd look for if you couldn't put DC in the center seat?

  • Maybe Stay In Place car seats?

*Edit- I really don't know and haven't looked, so its just a guess...

  • Now that I have looked, please ignore previous comment. I don't think my brain is functioning at full capacity this morning Tongue Tied

  • Hmm, not sure. I have the PRIMO Viaggio SIP car seat (Peg Perego), and the SIP stands for side impact protection. It's just the foam wing looking things that are added onto the side.
