Well I guess she hates my DH then, because he's worked his f*cking a$$ off to get to where he is today as a highly trained MD. And, oh, he helps to diagnose the worst of the worst in women's and perinatal pathology...the kind of doctor that we all hope and pray that we never will have to have contact with, but his training qualifies doctors in his field to give women like us some answers!....GRRRRRRR. Of course she doesn't even know that that side of medicine exists because she is so perfect.

Make me stay over here, Jules. I need to be sat on!

Can I just say how relieved I am. This has been bothering me for WEEKS but I felt like I was being cranky!!! I can't take it anymore. She posts every three mins about her DH and her amazing perfect pregnancy(at 12 weeks??) but she is sick of hearing peoples good news. Ahhhhhhhhhh

I wouldnt call us bitter, just realistic. So many woman suffer from miscarriages, fertility issues, or other medical issues that make pregnancy a long hard road. I dont think there is anything wrong with telling those that have that perfect pregnancy that it isnt like that for the majority of women every once in a while.

She acts like m/c is rare it drives me insane. And if you have had one suddenly your high risk and no longer have a "healthy" pregnancy.

***Butting in*** Awww sweetie, not bitter just realistic because you have sadly been faced with that REALITY! I'm sorry that you are having to deal with that on your BMB. Good for you for standing up for yourselves. I still haven't come out on my BMB and I find myself rolling my eyes at most posts over there. I guess I will if my 2nd u/s goes well today.

And since she is all about no medical intervention and things being not "medically necessary" I asked her if she is having a boy if he will be circumsized (sp?) Not that there is anything wrong with not having it done, but I am curious!!

I try to stay out of the debate on that board but when people ask if we are getting it done I tell them no and why. Did you see the gal that had the bad NT scan (1/6 chance of DS) and rachaelski said something to the effect of "if you dont feel right raising a child with special needs than its okay to terminate the pregnancy. Being a parent means making the hard decisions and sometimes that means deciding to not be a parent." Indifferent

Oh, yes, I did see that you elected not to have the NT scan, and I completely understand and respect that. When it comes down to it, you have to do what you think is right for you and your family. The scan doesn't create the results, it only detects/reads them, so I agree that they are really not necessary. DH really didn't want us to do it at first (we did/are doing sequential screening), but we both wanted that extra ultrasound, so we are trying not to put stock into what the dang genetic counselor says. We are both completely against diagnostic screening (again, completely fine for others if they choose to do it and I will support them if they do, but it's not for us).

And no, I didn't see that Rachaelski had said that to that poor woman suffering over bad NT scan results. I think I am truly tired and done with that crazy woman. She really ruffles my feathers in the worst way.

I agree. Having to make the kind of decision (whether to terminate or not) is something that no one should have to go through though some unfortunately do, and an opinionated doctor would be terrible!

I agree, it wasn't me and I would have gotten multiple opinions. She got multiple opinions from doctors at the best hospital within a 200 mile radius and they all said the same thing (but they were all from the same hospital). I just think that the decision to get an NT scans need to be up to the parents individually and that other people should just respect whatever decision others make. I do love seeing when people have great NT scans...... I love happy healthy babies :-)

I'll always respect an informed decision. But when I see posts like "Oh I don't want to get the NT scan" because:

-it can't tell you anything with accuracy (wrong)

-I would never terminate for DS (just one of the many things they look for)

-my friend got it and her doctors told her she should terminate because she had a 1:100 risk for Txx (seriously? then she should sue)

-there's such a high rate of false positives (uh, no there isn't; look up what a "false positive" ACTUALLY is)

-I'm at low risk for xxxx (yeah, so are most people who have bad outcomes at the NT scan)

- (and my personal favorite): it's not going to change anything...I'll love this baby regardless (really? then you don't understand all what an NT scan does)

-I will just wait for the anatomy scan (actually, there's things that can't be detected at the a/s, and can only be detected earlier on)

....then I do a massive ::head-desk:: for people not informing themselves about what the test ACTUALLY does do and does not do.
