Would you be annoyed?vent

So Dh comes home yesterday and sees that I have a gift on the mantel for him for our anniversary on friday.  He asks how I possibly could have had time to go do anything for it and I tell him I dashed to the mall yesterday between dropping cruz off for his fieldtrip and picking him up (a whole hour and 1/2) and he tells me how he just doesn't have any time to do those kind of things.  Then later in the night he asks if I want to come for drinks with a vendor who is in town and I know on thurs night.  I tell him we dont' have a babysitter because my parents are babysitting fri for our anniversary and to ask them 2 nights in a row is too much.  Well he then says ok he is going to go by himself for happy hour with this guy.  Um ok, but today I'm fired up because I know that on friday which is supposed to be our day together he is going to say he has to dash out and get something instead of going sometime this week and god forbid he not go to happy hour... UGH!

  • I would be annoyed. He could have ordered something online or picked up something on his lunch hour.

  • I'd be annoyed... I know from experience. My DH is super last minute on gifts for all holidays, birthdays, etc. He does day of shopping most the time and I get super annoyed! Sometimes to the point where I tell him just don't get me anything!

    This for me exactly ...

  • I'd rather not get "day of" gifts, because it means there was little thought put into what to get. It's just a selection of something that catches their interest at the store at the time. I just go with the thought that it's not really about getting stuff, but about being able to have quality time for someone and then I'm not disapointed. I'm not sure why most guys don't understand this.

  • I would be annoyed as well.  Not because of the lack of gift, but of the fuss he put over it.

  • Yeah I'd be annoyed.  I think last minute obligatory gifts are pointless.  I'd rather have a small gift that showed some thought.  And for him to complain about not having time while still making time for happy hour while you're home with two kids??  not cool.

  • I would be annoyed....just yet.  I can't get annoyed for something that hasn't happened yet.  It just sets me up for being in a bad mood and it might be nothing.
