Sitter City > Last Minute Care

Have any of you guys used Sitter City in your area?  We have a nanny, but had an experience today that made us realize we need a backup plan.  Our nanny had an appt and it ran 2 hours late.  We are lucky that my DH was able to be at home, but on a normal day when we both have meetings, this could have spelled disaster (ie: DD at my office with me - yipes!)

Sitter City has options for last minute care, but what happens - you just hand your baby to a complete stranger and say "byyyye, see you later!!"

Seems totally weird, but I need a contingency plan.  Any thoughts?

    We found our nanny on SitterCity (and she is awesome!) but haven't used it for last minute care.  

    Our nanny has several friends that also nanny and when there is an issue, usually one of the other nannies watches our LO along with their usual kids.  It works awesome for us but it assumes that the other families are ok with it.

    Hi, I'm in Chi-town too, and just came across a simliar situation. I've been trying to find emergency back ups, but everyone (so selfishly) wants a regular full or part-time job! Ugh, what about my babies? Cant people just drop everything when they are in need? Ok, but seriously, if you learn of something/someone, please do share.

    Oh, I joined NPN and I've posted a few times with some decent responses - the timing of everyone's schedules just hasn't worked out yet.

    Yay Chi-town!  I actually joined SitterCity right after I posted this in response to some of the posts.  So far so good!  I did the one month sign up with a 10% off coupon code for $31.50 and I already have a meeting with someone on Tuesday.  There are a lot of girls that just want night time gigs, but there are others that are available for occassional (weekday or nighttime) work. So far, for the hour I have done it, the experience is good.  Don't go stealing my chicks though!! :)
