Babies: 6 - 9 Months

s/o Boners

What will you be calling LO's private parts? My parents used cutesy nicknames (jigger=penis) but I think we will be using the anatomically correct names.

What say 6-9?

Currently we call it his winkus or his willy.  I think we'll probably call it his pee pee or penis.  My ex's mother called it his herman.  I still laugh at that.  "did you hurt your herman sweetie?"
  • DH says Pee Pee. We'll probably use that haha. He will probably know the anatomical names in addition to that though.

  • My son calls his penis his penis and knows Mommy doesn't have one and I've told him what I have is a vagina, but I don't think he remembers that.

    We'll teach J the same.

  • We call it pee-pee.

OMG, I LOL at this.  As in "Pee Wee Herman" or what?  I have never heard this term.

  • We call it his wiener now (DH had a song when D's circumcision was healing, called "Putting on your wiener vaseline.") but I think I'd prefer D to call it a penis. The term pee-pee makes me cringe.

  • When I was waitressing in college there was a family who sat in my section. They had a little girl who was probably 3. She started freaking out soon after they sat down and yelled "MAMA, I HAVE TO PEE OUT OF MY VAGINA"  After I stopped laughing I thought to myself, hey good for them for teaching her the correct terminology.

Yep, yep. It's usually vag, though.

My sister says "coosy", as in a combination of pvssy and coochie. :/

  • We say penis... I don't think there's anything wrong with it, although for some reason I can't bring myself to say vagina to my kids :S not sure what we're going to be calling THAT yet.

  • My SO calls them Twig and Berries.  Yeah he is a 13 year old.  Our conversation:

Him:  Babe, come here, A has these red dots on his Twig and Berries.

    Me:  His what?

Him:  See? (point to his penis)

Me:  What are you 13?  Thinking to myself, what did I get into here? Smile

The red dots were a yeast infection, poor kid.

    Edit:  I do/will call it a penis.

  • I'll probably say penis or peepee. However, I did say during bath time the other night (as he was discovering he had boy parts) "Jake! Mommy doesn't want to see you playing with your ding-a-ling!"

Right now it's "little vajay" but I'll probably just refer to it as her vagina when she's older and has questions, a health issue, etc.

No need to pvssy foot around the issue, you know.

This.  But for now we call it her "na na."  've always called a vagina a "na," but I know that when the time comes we will probably use the correct terms.

  • I havent really thought about it much....I suppose we typically call it her vagina and her bottom. I'm not opposed to cutesy terms, but don't find them to be a necessity.

  • I grew up using anatomically correct terms, so I would like to teach Aiden those. DH is pretty ok with that, but he does call his penis a "pee pee" now.

You all know that you don't pee out of your vaginas, right? Right?

My daughter will learn about her vagina when it's age appropriate for her to learn about her reproductive organs and menstrual cycle. Until then she only needs to know about her outer parts and where her pee comes from so she'll know her vulva and urethra.

When she first starts talking it will probably be "peepee" or something until she's around preschool age. DS had a "peeper" (his variation of peepee) when he started talking but about when he started preschool we talked to him about the correct terms. I think as long as it's recognizable as private parts it's fine, the problem comes when it's a word that isn't not usually associated with privates. "The man touched my peepee" is a giant red flag whereas "The man touched my cupcake" isn't.

  • Anatomically correct names. We already use the correct names when talking to each other in front of him (e.g., "Mac had a poopsplosion up the front, and it was all over his penis and testicles. It was so gross.")

Wait..you don't pee out of your vagina?!? Stick out tongue

Which leads me to another hilarious anecdote. When I was admitted to the hospital with Jack they were trying to get a urine sample and had to use a catheter. The idiot nurse could get it,(which was super pleseant) and then says to my mom "My, she has strange anatomy" while pulling her down to glance at my crotch. I wanted to stab her in the eye socket.

LOL I was waiting for someone to say this. We'll use the anatomically correct words.

When we have a girl, she'll learn her (outer) bits are the vulva which is apparently something most grown women do not know. We'd probably call the urethra a "pee pee" when she's very young since it's kind of a hard word to say. This is a lot of thought for my hypothetical non-existent baby girl haha.

Yes You totally get me. LOL
