I used to love this name. There's a Madeleine L'Engle book with a character by this name (I *think* it was "A Ring of Endless Light," but I'm not sure) and when I read it as a kid, I immediately loved it. I come from a family with a lot of Greek-name-love though. We have Arquimides, Homero, Oreste and a few others like that in the recent family tree (my father's generation).

I loved that book as a kid and I don't remember a Persephone being in it. The main character was Vicky (it was my favorite Madeleine L'Engle book).
OP: I love this name. The abduction of Persephone is also one of my favorite Greek myths as it explains the changing of the seasons. I don't know that I would ever have the guts to use it IRL, but I'm a huge fan of lots of Greek names and generally give kudos to parents who do use them.
It's cute. It makes me think of the Simpsons, though. There's an episode where Homer's long-lost brother is designing a car and his marketing team comes up with the name "Persephone." His retort? "People don't want cars named after hungry old Greek broads!"
I wouldn't use it, but kudos to them for being ballsy and having taste at the same time.
It just reminds me of 'A Love Song for Bobby Long'. One of the main characters had this name, nn Percy. I really couldn't decide if I liked it or not...

I really like it! It is different - like Hermione - but not as familiar. And I think Perry or Percy would be really cute girls' nicknames. (Seems similar to a name like 'Sloane', which doesn't sound super feminine, but the few Sloanes I've met have come across very classy.)
As for pronunciation, I think the familiarity of "Hermione" will help those who are less familiar with Greek names and spellings.
