Totally not a NY thing to do... but I also did a groom's cake... my DH LOVES ice cream cake... so i made him an ice cream cake (with pistachio ice cream - his fav!) in the shape of a horseshoe... he works in the horse racing industry!
We had both cupcakes and cake. Cupcakes were german chocolate (DHs fav) and carrot cake. THe cake has a layer of choc w/raspberry filling and vanilla w/raspberry filling. All I got to eat though was the piece shoved up my nose and some frosting from a cupcake!

I believe it was mocha hazelnut cake...mmmmmmm
Love this post... i want cake so bad now lol... here is ours this is the only picture i have since im at work. Each layer was a different flavor. Bottom was vanilla with something mixed in i forget then chocolate with chocolate chips then vanilla again then our top layer is both!! mmmm only a couple more weeks until our first anniversary and i can have it again!!!!

Ours was a very small wedding so we did different flavors of cupcakes with white frosting and crystal sugar around the edges. Simple. Yummy. And now I want cake!
