We don't have an official diagnosis yet, but his pedi suspects that DS has a lactose sensitivity. Basically DS is incrediably gassy. He try's to poop/fart almost all day and has a really hard time doing it. But once he does poop/fart he is happy. He is also pretty congested a lot of the time. Since DS is EBF I have had to give up diary. We are only a couple days in, so hopefully we will see results soon.

Oh thank you for asking this! I am wondering the same thing. My LO was sooo gassy last night. You could see her working on it so hard. And she'd get a little burp or fart here and there and wud feel better for a few minutes but would be so uncomfortable again. She cried for hours and hours last night. Yesterday was the first day I'd had any significant amount of dairy. I had a bowl of cereal, a small vanilla milkshake and a glass of milk for dinner. So I'm going to cut all that out for a few days and see what happens.
My daughter was diagnosed in the hospital - she was having some blood in her poop. We switched her to Isomil formula, which is soy based and she has been fine since.
My LO hasnt officially been diagnosed, but he had a LOT of painful gas episodes where he would cry and be in pain. Gas drops and gripe water didnt work. He was also very congested, was coughing a lot. We changed him to enfamil sensative and he has been way better.
super gassy. He would scream all day. He'd be sound alseep and then wake up screaming in pain and pulling up his legs. He was congested, he spit up a super ton. Just generally unhappy.
Once I got off dairy he was a new baby!

We think he is. He has had periods where he seems to be in pain from gas/poops and has also been congested at night. Our pedi said it may be a dairy sensitivity, and so I eliminated dairy from my diet (BFing). It has gotten a lot better. Some of my stash is not dairy-free, and since his problems were never horrible, and I don't know that we'd keep on top of stuff if we tossed all of that, we still use it. DH has noticed a bit more gas on days where he does get extra feedings from that stash (we mix it up so he doesn't get all dairy milk while I'm gone).

We discovered it in the hospital when we fed him simlac and enfamil infant. He ate an ounce and threw it all up and the throw up smell was sour and not the formula smelling kind. So after a few times he did that the one nurse told me he was ok and that was ok, but then the other nurse came on shift when it happened again and she said that he is lactose intolerant because when a baby throws up all the formula from every feeding and it's very sour smelling then it's defintely lactose intolerant. She said baby spit up should smell like the formula. We then gave him enfamil prosobee, which is a soy formula and he held that down really well. If he threw up it was just a tiny bit and it was normal smelling.
