I'm 21 weeks and for the past week or so I've occasionally been getting a waxy film near my nipples that will sometimes crust. This is colostrum, correct?
Thanks! First pregnancy and I'm learning the nuances. I was just a little concerned because when most people talk about leaking it's more described as liquidy. This is more... sticky. Blegh. Oh well. It'll come in handy in 4 months or so :-)
Colostrum is very sticky. Right after DS was born, I had to pump my colostrum because his tongue was severely toungue-tied (we had to wait until the next day to get it clipped). The only way we could feed him was through a syringe (sp?) with a feeding tube attached to it. I had to pump my colostrum, which is not easy, and immediately transfer it to the syringe before it turned to a solid. I then had to mix with a little bit of formula so we could get it through the feeding tube. It was torture! I was so happy when my little man's tounge was better and we could actually nurse.
