crap! left my BM storage caps at home!

I left all the tops to my BM storage bottles at home! How the heck I packed the bottles and not the lids, I have no idea. I guess I have to venture out in the rain to Target and buy some more, what a PITA! Anyone have any better suggestions?

  • I do this at least once a week. I've gotten to the point where I keep an extra stash in my pump bag! The first time I had to clean out my giant water bottle (I also keep dish soap in my desk) and pour all the milk into that--worked just fine. I'm sure there's something around you can use, be creative!

    p.s. I just noticed you're in GR--that's where I'm from :)

  • Can you find plastic wrap or bags and rubberbands? That should work to cover the neck and seal them.

  • I'm trying to think of what I would do if I forgot my caps. These are the best ideas I can come up with:

    1. Buy a bottle of water, dump out the water and fill it up with milk. Or if you have a reusable water bottle, wash it out and use that for milk storage.

    2. Maybe try masking tape or scotch tape to cover the bottle opening. You'd have to do a few layers, and be very careful transporting the bottles, but it might work.

I've done this one, not glamorous, but it works :)

  • A bunch of us did this a week or so ago too, there was a long thread :)

I keep a pack of freezer bags in my pumpbag at all times and they're my backup for this situation.

    Me too :).

I've done this. I now keep 2 spare bottles in my bag along with the box of freezer bags. Highly recommend it!

  • Thanks Ladies! I didn't even think about the baggies/ziplocs! I obviously missed the thread the other day. It was like pulling teeth around here, but I managed to locate some bags and rubber bands. So happy to not have to run out in the rain.

  • Oh, and I will definitely be keeping some spare storage bags in my bag from now on. Luckily, I've gone 6 months without a hitch up until now!

Genius!  I'm going to remember this!  I keep my caps in my freezer bag's pocket, but I ran out the other day and panicked a little.  I found one dirty in the bottom of my bag and washed it.  I have a feeling it will happen again, so this is a great solution!
