Sunday and yesterday I had the worst migraine of my life. I was in absolute tears and was miserable.
Today the migraine is gone (hooray!), but DH and I have both been blessed with a bout of diarrhea. Mine actually started yesterday afternoon. I actually had a doctor's appointment yesterday and mentioned this. I had to see a midwife (the 3rd one down the line) who completely blew off everything I said. I had to BEG her to give me a prescription for Tylenol 3 for the migraine. I just want to see my doctor again.
Anyways, I mentioned the diarrhea and she never said anything about it. Well, today it's worse. DH has a fever, too.
I've been on modified bedrest since April 5th and have to be on it the remainder of my pregnancy. I was in L&D a week and a half ago for severe headache and pain under ribs. I just feel like it's always something and the couple times I've called the office I feel like such a nuisance.
I don't want to overreact, but I also read in "What to Expect" that diarrhea can be bad and cause preterm labor due to dehydration.
Should I call or wait a little while longer to see if it subsides? If/when I call they'll be lucky if I don't mention the doctor I saw and my dissatisfaction with taking care of a possible problem. ![]()
Re: Diarrhea and Migraine...do I call?
I've had a similar experience. When I call my doctor's office they just send me to L&D w/out even seeing me. Grrr...
As for the diarrhea, my gen. physician said to take a dose of fiber everytime you have a bout of diarrhea. She said in hospitals they give you metamucil but you can use the fiber supplement of your choice. I used Benefiber. Worked for me after 2 doses. Also, eat the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast). Drink water, gatorade, tea, make sure you stay hydrated. Feel better.

please call your doc. I know it might seem like you are bothering them, but I would rather be safe than sorry. A month ago I had a stomach bug. I didn't vomit a ton, but nothing was staying in my stomach. The nurse on call is typically the most conservative nurse EVER and she put me on a CAT C drug faster than you can say 'please' due to fears about me becoming dehydrated.
Also, migraines sound flipping AWFUL. If you have one AND diarrhea AND your husband is sick too.. you need to do WHATEVER it takes to make yourself calm, safe, and healthy.
I wish you the best!
