What meds for high bp?

What medication did your doctor prescribe for high blood pressure?  Did you have high bp prior to getting pregnant or did it go up once you were pregnant?

    I was on Diovan after my son was born... was on it for 6 weeks. No meds during pregnancy or before.
    Mom to former 30 weeker born early to Pre-E. Now happy, health and growing at home!

    Lurking and butting in.

    I've been medicated for high BP for twelve years.  Once we began TTC, I was switched to Aldomet (generic - methyldopa). 

    I've had the weird business of having  borderline low BP this whole pregnancy...so I'm still on my meds but luckily haven't had to increase anything yet.  I feel very lucky to be in this situation and over the 24 week hump.

    I've had hypertension for about 8 years now; I was on Toprol XL plus a water pill before getting pregnant, but switched to Aldomet.  I started off on 250 mg once/day, but now (at almost 34 weeks) I'm up to 500 mg, 3 times a day.

    I have had high BP since I was 18 and took Accuretic (20/12.5) for a long time which worked well.  Doc switched me to Aldomet (500 mg twice a day) when TTC and it did not work.  When I got pregnant, the switched me to Labetelol (100 mg twice a day) which seems to be working well.  I was told that although Aldomet is safe, it is one of the weakest medications out to control blood pressure (probably why it's so safe!)

    I started on BP meds during my last pg.  I ended up with pre-e and one of the lucky few whose BP never returns to normal.  I was on lebetalol last pg and after I stopped nursing switched to norvasc.  Once I became pg again I was switched back to lebatalol.

    I am on 200mg 3x a day currently - it will likely change again (was on 200 mg 2x a day until about 18 weeks)

    I am on Procardia 30mg 2x per day.  I never had BP issues before I got pregnant.
