i am pretty certain we are just going to move to ivf.. i have pcos and mild endo that was "fixed" with a lap a few months ago. supposedly nothing else is wrong, dh's post wash count last iui was 91million with 95% motility. clearly he is not the problem- and we have had no baby luck
just wondering who got pg on the first ivf..,. i can afford one round right now and just feel like i will waste my money but i cant afford the cost warranty program right now.. i need some advice. try it once and spend everything i have or somehow find an extra 10k for the cost warranty program...
Re: XP: who got pg on the first ivf?
We only had 1 shot and got preggo on the first IVF/ICSI. I have PCOS and DH has MFI - plus they found that I have an egg factor issue (which wasn't known until we did the cycle). We put 2 in and got a singleton and we have 1 little embryo left that is frozen.
Wishing you the best!

11/5/11: We said goodbye to our sweet baby girl as she was born with multiple complications and a severe heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
We were in a similar position with only being able to afford one ivf and not the multi-cycle or money back programs. The money back program was a ridiculous price, basically paying 50-ish% more for an insurance policy. And the multi-cycle packages would only save us a couple thousand dollars over buying IVF cycles individually, again an expensive insurance policy. We personally felt after doing some serious number crunching that the money back and multi-cycle packages were kind of a gimmick and not worth it. Obviously that's just our opinion, but we found that if the first IVF worked that we would lose more financially, while if it didn't work we would have to pay just an additional 2k over the supposed "cost saving" programs. Prices vary from RE to RE, but that is what we decided based on our RE's prices.
I also think emotion plays into these packages and multi-cycle pricing offers, the fear that if you don't buy them and the first IVF doesn't work that you have lost everything. We really had to take the emotion out of our analysis and just look at the facts and numbers, that's hard to do, but it made the choice given our RE's prices very obvious.
We ended up getting PG on our first IVF. Even if we hadn't gotten PG on our first IVF I know that we made the right financial decision in buying the single cycles. We also bought only what we could afford, rather than overextending ourselves.

We got pregnant from our 1st IVF (w/ ICIS) cycle, but we were solely MFI.
The cost warranty program was a never a consideration to us due to the cost and we were hoping that if the 1st IVF cycle didn't work at least the 2nd one would thus making 2 IVF cycles less expensive than the warranty program (at least at our clinic).
We also have 9 frozen embryos left over for future cycles.
Good Luck to you!!
We did, after being diagnosed with unexplained infertility. There was nothing wrong with either of us, although I had borderline high FSH. We fertilized half our eggs conventionally and the other have with ICSI. We transferred 2 embryos (one from conventional and one from ICSI) and one stuck. Thank God too because we nearly went broke with one round. We do have 4 frozen embryos left over though.
DH wanted to "shop around" and found another fertility clinic up the road from ours that had a warranty, but I loved my RE so much and was so comfortable at the clinic we were at that I stayed.
TTC #1 since 7/08 After 3 years, 2 losses, 3 rounds of IUI, and one round of IVF, we finally have our dream come true! DS born 7/30/11
TTC #2 off and on since 7/12
With this round of IF we went straight to IVF w/ ICSI (mainly for reasons related to my age, egg quality and what we learned last time we went through IF).
We got pregnant on our 1st IVF with a single embryo transfer. While I know we were extremely lucky, it is possible!
Best of luck to you as you continue to grow your family!
After 4 failed IUIs (well 1 was successful but I m/c), our first IVF worked. But we have MFI (low count, terrible morph). We did do a cost sharing program - 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles for one lump sum with a minimum of 1/2 our money back if they didn't work.
Have you considered IUI at all?

Good Luck with your decision!
We knew we could only do 1 IVF cycle and were really lucky it worked. My IF is due to thyroid problems.
