Crib Bedding- Did you pick one?

I know its a bit early, but I have already been looking for baby bedding and trying to imagine my nursery. I wanted something neutral since I want to have more than one child and don't want to redo the nursery every time but I cant decide on one. Have you picked out your nursery bedding yet? If so, what kind and from where? Same with nursery furniture. What kind and from where?

Re: Crib Bedding- Did you pick one?

  • We still have the bedding from our daughter's nursery and it's in decent condition, so unless we have a boy, I'll be using it again. Plus, her crib is black and the bedding is purple and I really dig that color combo. LOL

  • I've actually picked one for a boy and one for a girl because I really love bedding, and I spent nearly an entire work day looking through every crib bedding site I could find until I found things I liked.  I'm extraordinarily picky and really money conscious so sometimes it takes me a really long time to find anything I like...especially bedding.  Did I mention I really love bedding?  :)

  • I have a boy and a girl one picked out from Pottery Barn Kids. I am sooo excited to do the nursery. As soon as we find out the sex, it will be the first thing I order.

  • We chose Voyage en Afrique by Jacadi. I work for a safari company, so I've always wanted to do a safari nursery. The Jacadi one is the only one I could find that was elegant instead of cartoonish. Their website is pretty crappy since it's a French company, so I can't find a good picture.

  • We're going to wait to see what we're having. I do have the bedding from my DD, but since we won't be buying much for our second, I'd like to get bedding that goes with the baby's gender. We got ours from Babies-R-Us. As for the crib and other furniture: crib and dresser from Burlington Coat Factory (they have a baby section), and rocker from a special order store called Baby to Teen. GL, there's a lot of shopping around to be done.

  • We are not registering for a full bedding set. I am an active volunteer in a SIDS awareness group and bumpers and heavy comforters are a no no in the crib with baby.  So it seems like a waste of money to buy the whole bedding set and use the sheets.  (I think I will ask my grandmother to make a coordinating quilt for when the baby is older)

We are doing the sheets, receiving blankets, and boa blanket from this set though:

  • I bought a bedding set at Baby Gap when I was pg with DD..I thought I'd return it if I wasn't having a boy.  When it came time to return it, I couldn't part with it, so I figured I'd use it with the next one.  I think I'll use it for either gender this time, its just too sweet not to.

  • We are not doing a bedding set. Puffy bumpers are dangerous and you cant use the quilt so it is kinda pointless IMO. We might get a breathable bumper and a  bed skirt depending on how we decorate the room and the crib.
  • Just to make a point about buying the quilt--you won't use it now, but you might want it later.  With DD, I had bedding that I really loved, but didn't buy the quilt.  When we moved her into a toddler bed, which lots of people do, especially if you buy a convertible crib, the quilt was no longer available.  I ended up going to PBK and buying a completely different set-obviously not a bumper at that point, but if you love a bedding set and want to use the room into toddlerhood, the quilt is nice to have.  You can always hang it, or throw it over the back of the rocker until its time to use.

  • We bought one with DD and it was such a waste of money. I'm glad it was on clearance so I don't feel too bad about it.

The bumper would attach to DDs crib properly (because of the shape of her crib), so we didn't use it. The crib skirt was barely visible. We have the quilt with all of DDs other blankets, but she has hardly used it as it's not as soft or warm as other blankets.

We just got several crib sheets that coordinate with the rest of the room.

  • The only thing we actually used from DD's bedding set was the bumper...gasp....and the crib skirt.  I will only buy pieces for this baby.  Not a whole set.
