My dog is stoned.
My brother is visiting this week with his girlfriend and a good friend of theirs.
Well, both my brother and said friend had some special cookies they brought for the trip and my dog got into one of their bags and ate them.
He's currently half-standing/half-laying in his bed, bobbing his head and looking like he's going to fall over. He's 6 pounds.
It's been 3 hours since he ate them so I *think* he'll be alright. And I hate that all the vet's offices are closed right now......

We've called and left a message for the ER vet.....which is really just the vet's office and someone check's the voicemail every couple hours.
My brother has texted a friend of his who's a vet too. We're just waiting to hear back.
I'm sure this will be something we laugh at tomorrow or the next day, so long as he's okay.

What's holding you back from driving to the emergency vet right now? I'd be beside myself in your situation, doing everything I can to save my pup.

Absolutely this. Is there not an ER vet around you? It would seem like there are other options than waiting for someone to check your vet's hotline. At least where I am, there are several animal hospitals open after hours for ER services.

OP- I hope everything turns out okay.
There's no one there. Our ER vet is just a separate number at our vet's office where they can check voicemails after hours. DH is looking after wee pup while I'm stuck at work.
ETA - didn't think there would be a vet on this board, but if it helps, they were pot cookies, he ate 2 (I don't know how big they were) and we didn't know until he threw up about 1 hour ago.
It does matter. I'd be more worried if they were chocolate cookies!

I just search my parents zip and it kicked back all the e-vets I know of in their area. It should work for you.
Thanks ladies. I appreciate the support. We're in BC, Canada. We're in a good size town and we go to the main veteranarian in town. Unfortunately, our town doesn't have a 24/7 vet. The nearest one is a 3 hour drive.
I'm sure DH will update me as soon as he hears back from the vet, but the waiting is killer.
The dog would just sit on her lap while she smoked. I don't think she ever ate it.
And her dog would act really high. She would walk crooked and once she just peed on the couch because she was too relaxed. I imagine it would be much worse for a doggie that ate it.
So, you just went from "our vet isn't open, the nearest one is 3 hours away" to "we're going to the vet" - ????
Sorry, I should clarify - I'm working so I'm getting updates from DH. The vet called back and asked him to bring the dog to the clinic.
I think we're also assuming that no one in the house (since OP isn't at home) was also partaking in the eating of the cookies.

Yes, exactly. This started out as a vent, but now seems to be turning towards a diagnosis.....
We figure it was about 3:00 as we got home from picking DD1 up at school. I had seen some plastic wrap on the floor but thought it was just garbage from my brother ( we didn't know about the cookies). It wasn't until the dog threw up that my brother mentioned the cookies that we now realize the dog ate. So, our best guess is he ate the cookies while we were out, threw up a couple hours later, we realized what it was and called the vet.
And now I wait to hear more updates.
Speaking of MUD, I was wondering where the door-slamming trailer girl whose dog died in her arms has been...
