10 Weeks 5 days how do i know baby is ok between doctor visits

Hello Everyone

I'm 10 weeks and 5 days and i just wanted to know , How do i know if baby is ok between doctors visits. I heard the baby's heart beat after freaking out about my appetite changing. My husband and i feel like we are on pins and needles until our next appt.

what are some signs the everythings is ok?

  • Unfortunately, there isn't anything to really tell you that things are okay between appts...you just have to assume. Are you having any significant cramping or bleeding? If not, I would try not to worry.

  • Relax. first of all if you can buy one of the OTC doplars and check on the baby from time to time. As long as your belly's growing, baby's heartbeat is fine when visiting the MD's and your appetite will change over the course of the pregnancy. with the changing of baby your body will need different foods.

Reality if there is no bleeding red blood at any time then your good.

  • Lurking from 2nd trimester...

I felt the same way you do now. I hated waiting so long between doctor visits. I was a nervous wreck not knowing if the baby was ok or not. Because of this I bought a fetal doppler so I could check the heartbeat out myself for the reassurance. Look into getting one. They are handy to have and on Ebay you can get them for rather cheap.

Like PPs said... no blood or cramping is a good sign. You are almost 11 weeks, that is also a good sign. Try not to stress and take it easy. I rested A LOT all through out my 1st trimester.

Good luck and try not to worry!

  • It's really more an absence of bleeding/severe cramping, etc. that tells you everything is okay. Other than that, you just have faith. that everything is okay. Personally, with G, I did a lot of praying.

  • Really, like everyone said, keep an eye out for bleeding or cramping. There is no way to know that baby is okay. It sucks. I had a miscarriage in December so this baby I worry about all the time. I try not to think about it. You could also buy a doppler. I was going to buy one, but I didn't have the spare money for it. Good luck!
  • Until you start feeling fetal movement, there really is no way to tell if the baby is okay.  It's a lot of faith in the unknown.... and that can be incredibly nerve wracking!
  • I thought cramping was normal unless it made you double over? Thats what my ob said. I have cramping still from time to time and doc said it was perfectly fine...I hope. This post scares me now....

  • I agree with everyone else, there is no way to know except an absence of bad symptoms.

Slight cramping is normal and a result of your uterus streching. If it feels like average period cramps, you should be fine. I had that for a while in the first tri.

  • get a Sonoline B doppler. they are like $55 on ebay and SOOOO worth it. and you can generally pick up the heartbeat by 11 or 12 weeks or so, sometimes earlier. i listen to it for just a minute or so everyday and it soothes my nerves enormously.... i'm 17 weeks and still don't have movement - i think once i start feeling movement, i'll probably use the doppler less, but for now, it works for me.....
