Hi ladies,
I should be bringing my preemie home from the hospital next week (she'll be 35 weeks), and though I've been nursing her 3x a day while she gets extra breastmilk through an NG tube, she gets the rest of her feedings by bottle and will have to continue to get a lot of her milk by bottle til she's a stronger breastfeeder. I'm looking for bottles that will make it easier for her to transition from bottle to breast. Any suggestions? I keep reading mixed reviews of Tommee Tippee and Dr. Brown bottles, so I wasn't sure whether either of those were best, or something else.
Thanks!
(Please disregard my ticker, I can't edit it for some reason. My little girl was born 4/10 at 32w4d, 4lb 11oz, 18 inches).
Re: Best bottles for avoiding nipple confusion?
my LO got a regular dr brown's bottle in the NICU, and we've used them since. i tried a tommee tippee, but it didn't work as well for him - but maybe he just got used to the dr browns? since what we had was working, i didn't think to try something different until he was maybe 4 mo old.
at the hospital, he'd bf, then get the rest through the ng tube. to get him out of the hospital faster, we decided to switch to all bottle-feeding, since it was easier for him and thus we could prove he could eat what he needed, when he needed, w/o the ng tube. once we got home, we still mostly bottle-fed, but i would try to bf 1-3x a day. eventually, he got strong enough to bf 100% of the time. however, knowing i eventually had to return to work, i still made sure we gave him a bottle at least once every few days, so he wouldn't forget. now, he nurses when i'm at home, gets bottles when i'm at work, no issues. GL!
Been away from theBump for a while, getting active again for all the good advice
