9 week old won't sleep anywhere but on me....

My son is 9 weeks old and the only way he will sleep is in my arms. I used to be able to put him down after he had fallen asleep and he would sleep for an hour or two but now within 5 minutes of my puting him down he starts screaming so I have basically just given up and he has been sleeping on me every night. Needless to say I am not getting much sleep because of this. I am breastfeeding him and I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem or has any advice for me. Thank you in advance for your help...

    DD is like this during the day, but not at night.  I breastfeed as well but at night I cheat and put formula with the milk and give her a bottle to keep her full.  I also rock her as I burp her for 10 minutes after she falls asleep at the bottle or breast so that when I put her down she won't snap awake when I move her.  I've also had to make a pillow for her to simulate my arm being behind her head, which has actually worked great lol

    It also helps that she never naps in her bassinet during the day.  I reserve that for night only.  She's woken up a few times from gas but went right back to sleep in the middle of the night, I'm sure from that difference in sleeping areas being established.  During the day, though, Ya can't put her down for the life of you!

    I recommend the Baby Whisperer book.  I'm currently detoxing my 4 week old of this habit, and although it isn't easy and it's a lesson in consistency, I think I am making some progress.  I had to go through this with my older daughter as well, so I know that it works, it just takes time and patience.
