First of all, haiii friends! I've been MIA for a while--I started class and I'm working and alkdjfkdjkfd it's been crazy. Even though I don't recognize many of these bumpies so maybe I haven't been missed, lol.
Second of all, C has been STTN about 12 hours since he was 3 months old. We had a nice 10 day 4 month wakeful last month, and other than that all has been swell. C wanted to start eating more, so we increased his bottle amount (I EP) so he was averaging 40 oz. a day which I think is a lot, but whatever I just keep pumping my life away to keep him happy... lol. We've been doing oatmeal in the mornings and a veggie in the evenings, too but we've only been doing that for about a week. The man is a porker, even though he's a scronny little 15 lb. guy. The past few days he's been waking up between 12 & 2, and then again around 4-5 and wants to eat BOTH times. Is this crazy?! That is SO MUCH FOOD. I wouldn't mind just one feeding, but I am watching my once-huge freezer stash dwindle away because I can't keep up with him. I've been supplementing with some formula, so he now gets about 4 oz. spread through out the day, just so I can continue to freeze some every few days.
Is 5 months a normal time for a growth spurt?!
How much does your 5 month old eat? Is this normal?
Thanks in advance, ladies!
Re: He eats so much, and wants to wake to eat?!
Yay for our guys having the same birthday
lol Happy 5 months!!
But seriously, I'm so lost. I want my sleep back.
11-19 was a great day! I'm still waiting for an actual sleep through the night, so I feel your pain.
I think I heard 6 months was more the normal time for the next growth spurt, but I could see it being a possibility. DS is about 20 lbs and is still sleeping about 11 hrs a night without waking. I don't want to be presumptious, but are you sure he's actually hungry? Is he crying? Because I've found the few times DS does wake at night, he doesn't cry but if I go in there to check on him he just assumes it's wake-up, eating time and gets frantic really quickly. If I just let him hang out on his own I hear him go back to sleep eventually and he's been fine. So not sure if this is what's happening with you.
FYI, we've been doing rice cereal at lunchtime and rice with veggies at dinnertime for about a month now--this is in addition to his normal BF/bottles (estimating 30-35 oz), and he seems OK with that. Maybe try adding oatmeal/cereal to his night feeding? I've heard that helps them sleep and that seems to have been our experience, although I've actually looked it up and research can't prove it. GL!
He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

Buddy has turned into the world's biggest piggy lately, so I think it's a growth spurt too! Can't explain what's happening? Growth spurt!
But seriously, I have had to unfreeze some stash the past 4 or 5 days, and I used to overproduce just a tad. He will eat 10 oz bottles at a time sometimes. And lately he's been waking up at 4:00 or so to eat another bottle. Since I EP, it's easy to figure out how much he's getting, and it's been a little over 40 oz for about a week now. I was looking into it, and it looks like there is a 6 month growth spurt, but he has always been a little early on his growth spurts.
