After all the posts about crazy in-laws, I have to say....

I LOVE MY SO'S PARENTS!!!!!! They live in the house right behind our's, they never bother us, they never step on our toes, I don't have to worry about them trying to "move in" after the baby is born, my MIL has never once said that she wants to be in the delivery room (not that she would, she has a weak stomach...haha)........

Just reading all of the posts from people about their in-laws and the problems that they are having with them when it comes to the pregnancy or baby....makes me so thankful that I don't have to worry about any of that stuff.

To all the people that are dealing with it.....I am sorry and I hope that it gets better for you, your husband, and your baby's sake!!

I totally agree.  I've said it since planning the wedding, when other people had all these horror stories of their MIL-to-be being pushy and taking over.  Mine showed interest and offered opinions only when asked (it was my mom who was the problem LOL).  And I know that both MIL and FIL are going to be sweet, loving grandparents who support what we decide, help when we ask for it, and back off when we need our space.

  • Very very jealous of you!! my MIL is the devil sometimes!
  • You are very lucky!  My best friend is getting married and just had her shower this past weekend.  Her future SILs and MIL are so wonderful. I told her that she should definitely appreciate it, and she really does.  I wish my ILs were like that!

I have great IL's too!  I don't understand how some of them end up so crazy!

  • It breaks my heart when I read about crazy in-laws. What does anyone gain from treating their family like $h!t?

My in-laws are amazing and I am thankful for them every day.

  • This is exaclty how I feel. My parents live 4 hours away and the IL live about 3 minutes and I dont think they have ever stopped by without asking. My MIL is always there to help and take DD when I need her too or entertain her if I need to mow the lawn anything its great!

Now the Grandparents IL are my worst enemies ;) I can't stand them!

  • I have two sets because his parents are divorced.  MIL and SFIL are something.  I adore my SFIL and his ability to deal with MIL.  She is all over the place emotionally and is in all of our business.  She worries herself sick about all of us and acts out at the most inappropriate times.  There hasn't been a function that I have hosted that she hasn't made a fool of herself.

My SMIL and FIL are amazing!  They don't bug us to death and we have a wonderful relationship.  They dote on DS and don't break his home rules at their house.  For example, my MIL knows that we don't do snacks before bed and she knows that it bugs the crap out of me when she does this but does it to spite me.  SMIL would never do this.  They try and keep things as on track for him as possible and I appreciate that.  That is just a small example!

  • My MIL is also amazing.  She is one of the sweetest, most considerate people I've ever met.  Unfortunately my FIL passed away just over a year after we got married, but he would've been the BEST Nono.  I feel very lucky whenever I read the more negative posts about in-laws.

  • I agree completely with this. My FIL is coming out for about three weeks to help us complete our home renovations that we had been dallying with since we bought our house almost 5 years ago. And my MIL, who passed away a few years ago, was the one who I always felt would be the fun grandma. Not that I think that my parents won't dote on and/or adore our LO, but I know that she would have enjoyed exploring the world all over with them. I completely breaks my heart that they won't ever get to know how wonderful of a woman their Mutti was.
